My aunt has excruciating foot pain from diabetes? She's tried all kinds of creams & lotions and does ice packs at night. I've caught her standing barefoot in the snow before. Is there something that can really alleviate the foot pain for her? I should add that her and the doctor ARE working on medical relief, pain killers and such. I'm looking for alternative routes ON TOP of doctor care
Diabetes and Foot Pain? I am a newly diagnosed diabetic and I'm 45 years old. I am also fairly active as I am a HS football official. After the game on Friday night, I have pain in one or both my feet. In one foot, it's on the heel, on the other on the pad below my toes. It isn't always the same combination and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all. I've been diagnosed with plantar faciatis (sp?) in one foot, but the pain doesn't feel like that. Could this be linked to my diabetes? Would those diabetic "circulation socks" help at all? Or am I just getting old?
Diabetes and foot pain? I have extreme pain in my feet (like getting squeezed in a vice) during the night due to diabetes type 2. Anything to take to get some sleep? Celebrex does not work.
Diabetes and leg/foot pain? I have a friend who suffers badly with leg and foot pain caused by diabetes, whenever i ask him about the pain he says "if you had the pain you would know how it feels", ok, he is feeling sorry for himself, but, i really would like to know what sort of pain it is. Can someone tell me, is it a stinging pain? an ache? or what. Please describe the pain in detail for me. Many thanks.
What causes the pain in feet when diabetes are also present? My sister is 58, and she has been diagnosed with having diabetes for several years. She takes her insulin injections every day as prescribed. She is having extreme pain in her feet every day, she takes percocept but it has gotten to where that does not even help. The physicians just keep telling her its a side effect of having diabetes. Can anyone tell me if you have ever heard of having such and what can be done about it . There is no sense in anyone being in so much pain.....Thank You ahead of time....
Is there anything that can alleviate the horrendous foot pain that follows intensive chemotherapy? My best friend was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in March. She has just completed numerous rounds of chemotheraphy and is scheduled to begin stem cell replacement procedures at NY Presbyterian Sept 20. Though she completed her last round of chemo more than a month ago and has been on a medication given to diabetes patients with the same symtoms, she suffers from agonizing pain in her feet...burning, pins & needles, hot, then freezing, feeling like sandpaper was scraped against the bottoms of her feet...the medication has done nothing, massages, foot baths do not help...please help me to help her....she can't sleep and a woman that is probably the strongest and bravest that I know has been reduced to tears...HELP!!!!
what kinds of foot pain are there? i get this horrid pain some mornings & i worry about it. it's on my right foot between heel & toes. my mom says it could be diabetes. does anyone please know & or have experienced such thing. i tend to limp in the morning. then i let my blood circulate & i walk normal though the pain, although lesser, doesnt go away.
Can someone advise on foot pain? My dad is having severe foot pain in both feet. He says the pain is in the whole foot not just parts of it. As if the toes are going to explode. He says it's a shooting type of pain. I'm wondering if his diabetes may not be a part of it. He''s been out of test strips so he hasn't checked his blood sugar in a week. He doesn't monitor it very well anyways. He says they have been hurting for about a week. We tried putting hot and cold compresses on them. He says he can't feel hot or cold in them. just the pain. He also says the pain has gotten to where it will wake him up in the middle of the night. Any advice people? I know that diabetes ain't nothing to be taken lightly. He knows that too. He simply don't care. I've seen him have his blood sugar at comatose levels for weeks at a time and still eating Reese's peanut butter cups like they were going out of style. I believe his blood sugar was at around 700 then. I know, it's hard to believe, but he's nothing near ordinary. We have all informed him of how he could get all his testing products for free, he's simply too lazy to do it. He's by far the biggest pain in the a$$ I've ever met. But I still want some advice on the feet, partly because I feel sorry for anyone in that type of pain, and partly because if that were helped, he would quit whining to me about it. I know it sounds like I'm being a harda$$, and maybe I am, but he's the biggest whiner you'll ever meet, and most the time there's alterior motives to his whining, although I don't believe there is with the feet. You can't understand unless you know him. today he says there's no pain, but he seems to think it's only a temporary relief. thanks for the info so far everyone. oh, and we've tried the subtle approach, and forceful just don't work. I think we'd have to have one or two specific friends of his come over to pull that off. the man can scrap. more than likely, we'll have to resort to bribery to get him to think about keeping his diabetes in check. i just hate to get him started, cuz he'll milk it for all he can
How to stop the pain with Diabetes? My mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a month ago, since then she has her blood sugar level under control, but has terrible pain in her knees feet and back. The doctor says she just needs physical therapy and its probably tendinitis, but she is in pretty good shape. I am concerned that something else is going wrong? she has good circulation. I would appreciate any info. Thanks
hand and feet pain might be diabetes?arthritis? my blood test and urine testare all normal.my uric acid also normal but when im waking up in the morning or starting to walk my plantar area is in pain,as well as my thumb.wrist.hips knee.i don't know what's happening to me?pls advice..thanks
Would a diagnosis of diabetes relate to the pain I feel ? I have been experiencing pain on the heel of my left foot for a couple of weeks. I think it MAY be circulation related. BUT I am not sure. I notice both feet are sore when I get up in the morning. Then after I walk for awhile it seems to go away. The pain is fairly strong and like a deep soreness on the bottom of my feet.
Father could loose leg from painful foot and Diabetes? My father has had Diabetes for a good 20 years and been able to control the sugar. Then he had to have Triple Heart Bypass surgery, about 7 years ago. The Doctors used some of his veins from his legs, and for the last 5 years he has had pain in his legs and feet. Now the Doctors tell him he may loose a leg?
Diabetes causing enourmous pain in feet 24/7? My Grandpa has diabetes and I guess it is causing nerve damage in his feet. I guess he's tryed all types of pills, soaking his feet, special shoes, even hypnotherapy! Anyone know something we don't that he could try that has worked for other people? Feel free to list meds too
Help diabetes and foot bone infection.? My mom has type 2 diabetes. My mom went to the hospital because she had pain in her foot. They diagnosed bone infection.I am freaking out right now. I am scared that she might have to get a leg or something amputated. I was wondering how serious a bone infection is. And what the possibilities are for a amputation. Im not sure how serious the infection is.So please tell me what the chances there are for amputations for low medium and serious conditions. Also how long it takes to recover and the outcomes of recovery. Thanks in advanced. Also how rare is it for someone with a foot bone infection to get amputation.
Extreme foot pain- both feet burn- like walking on hot coals? About five years ago I suffered a back injury, but I noticed the foot pain prior to that. It's gotten worse through the years. I've been telling my Dr. about it for a long time, he looks at me like I've got two heads. He finally put me on Cilostazol, I felt some immediate relief, but, it only works sometimes. No insurance. Tested neg. for diabetes. Please Help, any clues? I can't stand the pain.
Foot Pain. What would cause sharp shooting pain in foot where it is unbearable to leave shoes on for longtime I am now experiencing foot pain now. I am overweight also. I didn't really notice these issues until I took up squating regular in the gym with heavy weights. I am very much so flat footed and have an extremely low arch. I have worn sneakers past their prime too. My girlfriend told me that my shoes were too worn and old to wear. I had worn a pair of new balances till they were too worn, and then is where I noticed foot pain and issues. I also was concerned about neuralgia from diabetes also because I am overweight. What is advice on these issues. My feet hurt for a period of time after I get off work, but the pain does go down a bit. Sometimes I also have sharp shooting pains in parts of my foot.

Undiagnosed leg/foot pain, dealing with for 20+ years, not Raynaud's? I'm 25 & have had this pain since before I can remember. When I was younger, it was mainly my feet, and this is the best I can liken it to: if you've ever tied string or rubber band around a finger for any period of time, it's that sort of weird, vice-like, tightness that becomes a strong, constant pain. My physician growing-up determined it was Raynaud's, which he later ruled out when the pain began spreading up my legs. At the time, tests ruled out diabetes and arthritis. There's no swelling/color change, my feet are always like ice and look dead. When they hurt, anything other than cold feels awful. The pain comes at random (not worse depending on season), whether I'm sitting, standing, or sleeping. Usually, the pain is a few times a week and last a few hours to all day. It's not so bad that I can't walk, but enough to ruin my day. I've had no foot/leg/back injuries/surgeries. Also, wearing knee-high socks is painful (?). Any ideas? Should I find a neurologist or a rheumatologist? I just tried making a neurologist appt., but was told I should see a vascular surgeon...?
Diabetes & foot problems? I am a 31 yr old Diabetic (Type 1-had it since I was 12), & I have had problems recently with my left foot. The toe next to the pinky toe is a bit red, sore & itchy, & it looks little purplish in one spot. Sometimes it goes back to normal, but then it comes back ,I noticed mostly when my blood sugars are high. I also have a sharp pain that happens when I press down on my heel, feels like a vein is about to burst, very painful. Could this be Diabetes related?
foot pain in y7oung man? I am a healty 34 year old who has experienced gout. Laterly, though,my feet and legs have hurt as well. The pain comes and goes. The balls of my feet hurts, as well as the toes. The pain can throb or be sharp and uncomforable, sometimes causing me to limp. I look on the net, and things like diabetes come up, but my blood sugar was fine last year. Also, my knees sometimes get stiff. Could it be arthritis? If so, just take ibruprohen?
Severe Leg/Foot Pain? I asked this question about 3 months ago, but now my symptoms have changed. My symptoms are: Constant Tingling in Legs/Feet Random Spot on My Body Tingling/Itching Hands and Feet Falling a Very Easily and Quickly Stomach Pain Itchiness Weakness when I Eat Certain Foods Leg and Foot Pain Muscle Pain Extremely Mild Headaches I'm 15 years old male and weigh about 125lbs. I have been checked for circulatory problems and nothing was found. I have also been checked for Neuropathy, they said the test were negative. I have had a lower back MRI and it was normal. Could this be diabetes? Could this be caused by some type of lead or arsenic exposure? What could be wrong?
what are some causes for short term severe foot pain? I was at work this evening (I'm a waitress) when all of a sudden I took a step and nearly fell over from the severe pain my right foot was in. It was pain located in the heel, back of lower foot and ankle region. I could but absolutely no weight on it without pain shooting through my foot. Then, a few minutes later it was gone and didn't happen the rest of the evening. This is the first time this has happened to me. It's not a particularly busy restaurant so it is a very stress-free environment and not a very active job. A couple years ago I lost feeling in the right side of my right calf between my ankle and knee. Could it be related? I've never had high blood pressure, or diabetes. Thanks!
What would cause an intermittent cold sensation on the top of the foot? Every 3 minutes it feelings like someone is putting an ice cube on the top of my foot(only rt foot)......no pain.....or tingling. Just like cold water being poured over a 2 inch section of my foot. No previous broken bones or problems. No diabetes or circulation problems. No injuries or medications. No discoloration. I am baffled. It has been going on for 4 days. Thank you in advance.
why do i have pain in the side of my foot near the little toe? no diabetes, no injury, not after walking. happens randomly, sometimes when i wake up even. random stabbing, burning pain. it looks a bit red at times but otherwise normal. the pain runs from the bottom of the little toe about an inch or 2 - but on the side. anyone else had this? it's 1 foot and it doesn't get aggravated by any pr of shoes. it hurts more often when i'm not wearing shoes & haven't even been walking.

Is Charcot Marie Tooth Disease associated with Diabetes Mellitus? I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes about 3 years ago. It has progerssively gotten worse. I was diagnosed with Diabetic Polyneuropathy last year as well. I was always described as a "clumbsy" child. My mother said I was the only person she knew that could fall down without taking a step. My neuro says I have a gait disturbance but has done nothing as far as telling my why. I had some foot pain the last three days and had an x-ray done. My Internist told me I have arthritis and bone spurs but it could be Charcot Marie Tooth Disease. Is there any information out there linking Charcot Marie Tooth Disease and Diabetes?
Diabetes and Lower Back Pain? I see a similar Question: somebody also is worried about Neropathy and Diabetes. I am Diabetical for Ten years Now and Inject Insulin, 18 Months ago I had Sciatica and Lower Back Pain that has not dissapeared. ================================== Do I need a referral from my doctor to get an appointment to see a neurologist? I am currently seeing my doctor for a number of things including neuropathy, diabetes and 2 herniated discs in my lower back. He has told me several times that he can not treat me for long term chronic pain yet has only referred me to a pain specialist who only does injections on my back and doesn't help with the pain for the neuropathy. I have explained to him numerous times that the injections aren't helping with the leg and feet throbbing pain due to the neuropathy. He still refuses to refer me to a neurologist and keeps telling me to go to the pain specialist.
foot pain? my right foot has been sore all week and started out of no where. have diabetes in my family and for my mother that's where she noticed she had a black sore on her right foot, went to the doctor and he told her she had diabetes, could it be? hope not but what should i do about the soreness in the mean time until i go ck it out?
Do I have diabetes or am I just overreacting? I have Tingling or Numbness in Your Hands, Legs or Feet but not often. When my wounds heal it's either bruises or heals a long time. My armpits are black and groin also and my neck. I have foot pain only in 1 foot. I can excersize anytime I do not lack it. I do not have frequent urination. And most of the symptoms I guess. But I'm just worried and scared please give me a soloution on what this can be.
I've had increasing foot pain over past decade (am now 35). Also leg and knee pain.? This really started in my mid 20's, as well as episodes of chronic fatigue and fever and inflammation type symptoms. I also have always had poor circulation. I did see a doctor years ago and he just wanted to put me on anti deppresants, which i have also taken off and on for years. I've been told I should see a Rheumatologist but do not currently have med. insurance. Just curious if anyone experiences similar symptoms and has any ideas on what I may be dealing with as the problems seem to be getting worse after having 2 babies. I do also have a lot of diabetic symptoms (had gestational diabetes w/ last 2 preg) and really need to follow-up and have blood glucose testing again, so don't know how much these issues could play into things as well. Just want to get well to raise my kids! Gonna have to seek help somewhere. Thanks =0)
Pain in leg, foot, & arm? My mom is a 48yrs. old female who has been experiencing tightness and sharp pain in her left leg, foot & sometimes her arm. She heard this could be a sign of diabetes and/or high blood pressure.
Mystery Foot Ailment: What is it? I've been to 3 doctors, the last one supposedly a specialist. However since the foot was not hurting by the time the appointment rolled around - each doctor dismissed it. Foot Pain - running from big toe-knuckle to ankle, off and on, sometimes swelling for a few hours. Hurts worse laying down especially at night. TESTS for Gout and Diabetes or Arthritis in foot are negative. The doctors insist nothing is wrong - because the pain is not present nor swelling by the time I get to see them, It occurs without any set pattern or time. No Injury to foot that I am aware of. I would think an MRI would clear up the mystery but no doctor will do it. Anyone else have this problem? If so WHAT IS IT!? I am sick to death of these idiot hick backwoods doctors. I have been to a Podiatrist, but the man refused to hear me explain symptoms and by the time of my appointment the pain was gone. He treated me as if I were imagining the pain even after explaining it was not hurting at the time. He told me to make an appointment when it was hurting next time. Hello Doctor! I DID! But they schedule the visit several days away. The pain always returns as if when it so desires. I don't go barefoot but do wear sandals often. No foot injuries, not even glass chards.
If someone has nerve damage on their feet from Diabetes? What do do if Doctor refuses to give Rx for Pain? I know of someone that has Nerve Damage in their feet from Diabetes and is only. Don't know why doctors think your too young to have health problems, anyone can have any problems at any age. But anyhow. What can someone do if a Foot Doctor refuses to write out a Rx for pain when you need it as your foot also swells after awhile on the feet. Any suggestions? I'm asking this for a friend whom went to the foot doctor and he refuses to help this person with diabetes besides only giving injections.
Leg and foot pain problems? Most nights one or both of my legs will become painful usually from the calf down to my foot. It's really freaking me out that this is a symptom of diabetes ... could it be? Please help!
Stabbing toe pain in my left foot? This pain in my left foot is mainly near my middle toe, this lasts for 10 minutes, is there anything I can do for my pain? I also have type 2 Diabetes if that helps you answer. Thank you. This pain has been here for about a year or so now
What might cause acute foot pain in both feet? My husband is 10 weeks post 5 way heart bypass and valve repair surgery. He naturally has the high blood pressure and diabetes to go along with that. In the last week he has been complaining about a pain in his left thigh, the only descriptor he will give is muscle pain. The blood vessels for the surgery were taken entirely from his right leg. This afternoon he is complaining about overall foot pain in both feet. The pain has worsened over the last 24 hours or so. He says that walking and wearing his tennis shoes makes the pain better. I have a heel spur, and post surgery he had foot pain they said was plantar facia-itis(sp) so maybe it's just a flare up of that? His cardiologist is unavailable outside of office hours. His family doctor's office said (over the phone) if the pain is that severe it might be a blood clot and he should go to the ER. We don't have insurance. My husband thinks his doctors might release him to go back to work this week, and we're quite strapped financially, so he doesn't want to go to the ER (plus there's the whole "pincushion" thing). In addition, my husband argues that if it was a blood clot it wouldn't be pain in both feet. He says he'll just "deal with" the pain. How can I convince him to go to the ER? Or, is this something that's normal for heart patients? How concerned should I be?
Terrible foot pain from standing all day? My mom has diabetes and her feet hurt. She has a job where she has to stand all day so this is important. Is there a way to alleviate the foot pain she experiences? Or maybe to stop the pain in her feet? Are there any herbal or medicinal remedies? She wears either high heels or shoes to work. Thanks very much from me and her :D
foot pain in y7oung man? I am a healty 34 year old who has experienced gout. Laterly, though,my feet and legs have hurt as well. The pain comes and goes. The balls of my feet hurts, as well as the toes. The pain can throb or be sharp and uncomforable, sometimes causing me to limp. I look on the net, and things like diabetes come up, but my blood sugar was fine last year. Also, my knees sometimes get stiff. Could it be arthritis? If so, just take ibruprohen? I also do a lot of walking on concrete.
What can frequent foot pain that is caused by obesity mean? I also have frequent pain in my ankles, shins, and knees. I am 25 years old, 6'0", and weigh 360 pounds. I do not have type 2 diabetes nor high blood pressure. I do know that I am obese, so no smart-ass answers please. My doc diagnosed me as morbidly obese and I'm working on loosing weight.
What does diabetes has to do with foot pain? I believe I am diabetic because I have this pain in my foot, ankle and all the way to half my calf. I have heard diabetes could cause this pain. What connection would sugar in the blood have to do with a foot?
pain that shoots through the body from foot to head only early morning? My mom has been waking up constantly after 12:00 at night complaining about pain shooting through her body mostly in her chest, lungs and back. But about 5 minutes after she wakes up it goes away and doesn't come back till she goes back to sleep. Could it be serious? She has diabetes, asthma, hypertension and high blood pressure. Could it be one of these causing this?
sharp pain in foot when urinating? This past month every time i urinate i get this sharp toe curling pain in my foot, normally towards the end of urinating. It got so bad earlier i jolted forward. I read about something to do with diabetes but i was in the hospital a few months ago so im pretty certain it isnt that. Any ideas? i dont want to bother my GP if its something i can solve myself.
Has anyone with diabetes noticed if they eat certain food they have pain in their feet & other times they don'? I think someone who doesn't have really bad damage to their feet can reverse the problems. I know I can start a food journal. I was wondering if anyone is more advanced in this than I am & would share what they have learned. If you are here to say that nothing will help, please don't bother leaving your answer cause that is not the answer to my question. I want to know about what people have noticed or done to improve their health. Thank you.
What is diabetic foot or leg pain like? I was diagnosed with a "pre-diabetes" condition about four years ago. Now, I am starting to feel pain in my left foot and calf. Could someone plz tell me what diabetic foot pain is like? My pain is always in my left leg, and it is not really excruciating, just annoying. Sometimes it hurts a little bit more so I can't walk; but still I can't say I have "severe" pain. It is more like a spasm. and when I rest, it gets well gradually, but starts again when I get up and walk. Could it be that I have diabetes? I have heard that diabetic foot/leg pain is so severe that people cannot even bear the weight of a blanket on their feet, or it hurts so bad when they touch their feet or legs. Mine is nothing like that!
Foot pains, only when applied pressure? Recently I've been having foot pains, at first when in the shower (bath tub base), today I did a bit more walking than usual (Vans shoes, not the greatest support I'm assuming) Mainly, I was wondering what would most likely cause this pain. I'm hoping for the simplest cause, like simply tired feet, but I don't walk long distances. This question mainly comes from my paranoia of Diabetes. Is diabetic foot pain anything like what I described?
Diabetes/pain in the foot? My dad is 50 years old, with diabetes. Recently(2 days ago) one of his feet has started to bother him, he described it as pain on the side of his foot, like its all bruised or something(not numbness or pins and needles) and i know that with diabetics its common to havee foot problems or even to get them cut off. Does this sound like this is what it is?
My foot is pulsing with pain at night. What's up? I have type two diabetes which is under control through medication, diet and exercise, though I have some nerve damage in my feet. Lately about three in the morning my foot will start to pulse with pain. There will be a stab of pain in the top of my foot. It is just a pulse, but the moment I start to fall asleep there will be another waking me up. It's not that severe, but I can't sleep while it's happening. Is this a diabetes thing and is there anything I can do? I am exhausted!
