Ball of foot causing severe pain and discomfort? I play indoor soccer and a few weeks ago I noticed a red mark on the ball of my left foot after my game, it was a little sore and within a week the red mark turned into a scab and fell off and my foot was back to normal. Now, two weeks later, the same foot is sore again and I can seewhere the red mark used to be as it is a lighter color than the rest of my skin and when I push on it with my finger it causes an extreme pinching pain, does anyone know what this could be. I also get some pain when i walk on it or apply to much pressure in my steps.
Bunion Surgery 2 years ago, Now pain in Ball of Foot? In July of 2007 I had my bunion removed on my left foot. I had a screw placed in my bone so that my bone would not move out of place. I have not have any problems with it until here lately. Recently the ball of my foot has been causing me severe pain. I usually wear boots and flats which do not have much arch so I was wondering if it could be caused from an arch problem. I also sit on my foot a lot (i.e. indian style) but lately it has been causing my pain so I can not sit like that for long.
What causes pain in big toe ball? Started 2 days ago as pain in foot arch , could barely walk on getting out of bed. NOT caused by injury. pain diminished as hours passed . yesterday quite bearable. This a.m. pian bad on left big toe ball, less when standing, real bad when no weight on it?
Foot pain with weight bearing, on ball of foot under little toe? For almost a week now I've experienced foot pain, only occuring with weight-bearing (and causing me to limp!). It hurts at the ball of the foot under the little toe, sometimes the pain spreads across the ball or down the outside of the foot. There's no swelling and its not tender, and I've had no significant change to physical activity. The nurse at a walk-in centre could only suggest that it was 'general foot pain' and suggested ibuprofen. Any ideas as to what it might, more specifically, be - and how to treat it? Now I'm also experiencing some pain at the ankle, possibly in the tendon that runs to the big toe - is this possibly just a subsequent strain injury, as I've been walking/limping funny to take the pressure off the other side of my foot? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What is causing my foot pain from running? A couple days ago I ran 5 miles. Since then, my right foot has been in pain every time I take a step on it. I've been looking up on what it could be, and can't figure it out. I don't think it's Plantar Fasciitis because there isn't pain when I apply pressure to the heel. The pain seems to be right in the middle of my foot, and only when I walk on it. When I walk on only the heel or ball of the foot, there is a lot less pain (of course, it looks silly doing this). So it's only when I shift my weight from the back of the foot to the front, going over the middle. I have a triathlon in a couple weeks so I want to figure out what this is a.s.a.p. and fix it quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Major pain on the ball of my left foot? I woke up a couple of days ago with a pain on the ball of my left foot, It hurt but I could walk on it. As the day went on it hurt more and more each day. Now it hurts so bad I can barley walk on it. What is causing this pain? Could it be my shoes, I don't play any sports so its nothing like that and I can't remember hurting my foot.
What might be causing the foot pain on the balls of my feet and my toes? I get this foot pain that comes and goes. I had it for approx. 2 months, and it effects me everyday. It's only with my left foot, and it effects only the two toes to the left of my big toe, and part of the ball of my foot. Sometimes I almost can't walk on it, but I can relieve the pain if I curl my toes while walking. I had a concussion a long time ago that has caused a tingling sensation in my feet. I wonder if it worsened. Anyway I'm going to see a doctor about it, but I'm wondering if anybody has an idea of what could be causing it. I've had no injury to that foot for years. Nothing is broken. I had a doctor exam in August and I was completely healthy, except my sugar level was kind of high (90 something).
Pain in the ball of foot - Stress fracture? I'm a sprinter with a history of stress fractures in my left foot, and Thursday I began to feel a rather spontaneous pain in the ball of my left foot (right underneath my big toe). It has felt a bit tender since, and I'm not sure whether it's a stress fracture/bone-related injury or just an aggravated joint, a sprain, bruise, ligament or tendon issue which I can safely train through tomorrow on Sunday. I would be greatly indebted to anybody who can offer some guidance or try to match the symptoms with an injury. Also, I'm having trouble remembering - do metatarsal stress fractures cause pain on the underside or the top of the foot? Because I have absolutely no pain directly above the tender area on the big toe's knuckle, and if that negates or minimizes the chance of a stress fracture, I would be put greatly at ease. Thanks in advance again, take care.
What can I do about pain in my foot caused by ice-skating? I am a competitive figure skater and have been practicing a lot lately. I have noticed that my foot right under the ball of my foot and one the side of my big toe on the inside of my foot has been hurting a lot. Is there anything I can do about it? I have competition in early June.
I am trying to figure out what is causing my foot pain? Before reading, if you answer is to go to the doctor or other medical professional, please don't bother. If I could go, I would not be asking here. I have had severe foot pain for about two months in my left foot. The pain is localized in the front of the ball of my foot, but it spreads backwards towards my heal. There is no discoloration and I can stand on it for short periods of time but I constantly walk with a limp. After I sit down or rest, the pain is worst when I try to walk again. After researching the matter on WEBMD, I took the following steps with no success. I bought a sleeping foot brace which holds my foot at a 90 degree angle while I sleep. It keeps my foot from moving but causes my toes to go numb. I have tried adjusting the straps with no effect. But even with the brace, the pain in my foot is unchanged. I use Aspirin based creams to sooth my foot daily but can't find a long term solution. Please help, I'm living daily with this pain and it's effecting my ability to work. Thank you The pain is at the bottom of my foot which is facing flat against the ground, near where the arch connects with the ball of the heal.
Pain near ball of foot? When I stand on my left foot after waking up or resting for a while I have a strong pain in my left foot. It's located just below the ball of my foot, where it goes in - not as low as my arch, though. The pain starts there and shoots to the top and outer side as I walk on it. This has been going on for a while - maybe 6 months. (I know I should see a doctor, but it seems like all they ever want to do is put you on pain medication instead of figuring out the root problem.) I'd love to know what is causing this, if there's anyone who can give me any ideas! Thanks!
What is this wierd pain in base of my little toe on my right foot? For a few weeks not when i walk i get a sharp pain at the base of my little toe kind of on the ball off my foot. I havn't done anything that would cause pain that i know of. Any ideas what it is? There's no pain if i don't put weight on it, and i don't alway have pain when i touch the area If it helps i'm 16 , i run 10 miles most days i've been running for about 5 or 6 months now
severe foot pain any ideas what could be causing it? Last week I broke a plate. When I was cleaning up I go a small sliver of it stuck in my foot - I removed it - ever since then I have been having severe pain the ball of my foot. There is nothing stuck in it and its not bruised but it is incredibly painful so much so Im considering an x ray - anyone else had anything similar? Many thanks xxxx
Why does the ball of my foot hurt? For the past few weeks I have been experiencing some pain on the ball of my left foot and I don't have any clue why. I do play volleyball and we run quite a bit but that wasn't the cause of my pain. The pain showed up before our season began. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this pain is and how I can prevent it from hurting while I play.
I have an intractable pain in my foot? I have pain in the tendon just below the toes on my upper foot. An Xray showed no fracture but it hurts when I walk. Pain killers have no effect. There is no pain or swelling on the ball of my foot. Any suggestions as to the cause and cure?
foot pain? i currently ride my road bike approx. 100 miles a week. lately i have been experiencing pain in the balls of my feet. i wear tennis shoes while riding and put alot of pressure on the balls of my feet. (sometimes causing my feet to fall asleep) i was wondering if i was to switch to clipless peddles, would that solve the problem.
Does anyone have callouses right in the center of the ball of their feet? Straight down from the middle toe on the ball of foot. What causes this and how can it be stopped. The pain is so intense even when not on them. I'm 35 and have had it since I was 22. One foot DR told me the only thing to do would be to put rods in my feet to shift the weight but that that would just cause the pressure to go somewhere else and have the same problem elsewhere. Why is it some people have it and some dont? Whats the difference in them and me? I dont wear highheels because of this. I'm a good tenny shoe girl.
What is the cause of my foot pain? I've been noticing foot pain on and off for almost around a year now. I did some resarch and i belive it is in the location of the "Adductor Hallucis" in the sole of my right foot. Location-wise, the pain is centered underneath the ball of my big toe, if that makes sense. (sort of in the crease of the ball of my foot). the pain feels more like pain in the bone, rather than muscle strain. I can really feel it when i flex my foot, as well as when i massage that area. Any ideas about whats going on with my foot would be really appreciated. thanks!
Foot "pops" on the ball of the foot, under the small toes? I have been having trouble, on and off, with my left foot. I have a job that requires a lot of standing and walking. It feels like pressure building in the ball of my foot, and is extremely painful, causing me to limp at times. My foot will "pop' to relieve some of the pressure. Any idea what is causing this? Different shoes affect the severity of the pain. I have also tried cushioned shoe inserts, and the seemed to make it worse.
Walkers/Runners--newbie with foot pain question? This summer when I went to my doctor to see what could possibly be causing my recent numerous migraines, the answer turned out to be my blood sugar. I am not a diabetic, but if I can't learn to behave myself, there are needles in my future. I don't want that! So I started watching my diet and walking daily, early in the morning to avoid the heat. Usually my friend walks, too, and we go at a pretty good clip. I wear several different pairs of athletic shoes for walking, because I wear them almost exclusively, flats only occasionally, and heels maybe a few times a year. I have also been "jogging" with the Wii Fit from time to time, doing the Free Run and doing the actual jogging on a jogging trampoline. I have had a minor, nagging pain in the ball of my left foot off and on for several months now, even before I started exercising. It seems to date from when I had to wear my chorus shoes (character shoes, if you know what those are) for several hours for chorus competition in the spring. They are heels about and inch and a half high, and they are the highest shoes I own. When I am standing, walking, or jogging, the pain feels like I have a lump in the ball of the foot, but when I sit down to examine it, there is no lump there. I actually have had a foot x-ray, because my regular doctor didn't know what it is, either. Nothing showed up on the x-ray. As far as I can tell, it seems to make no difference which shoes I wear, or whether I walk or jog. In fact, I can't tell that anything I do makes a difference. (Just for the record, I have lost about 25 pounds since I started, but there's plenty of weight left.) I have only missed doing at least SOME exercise on two days in over two months, but I don't recall a difference then either. It comes and goes as it pleases. We haven't been able to afford for me to see a foot doctor, but I may be able to do that in a few weeks. Until then, any advice? Do you have any idea what this is? I have no hope of continuing to lose weight without the exercise, and would probably start piling it right back on. I can't stay off my feet anyway, because I am a stay-at-home mom with a two-year-old. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I will also be posting a couple of related questions shortly. Thanks! (I will also be posting this in the health category.)
PLEASE HELP! Major foot pain.? I just recently began my first job and unfortunately, I am on my feet all day long except for a 30 minute break. Anyways, I have bone spurs and tendinitis, horribly in both my feet which cause me so much pain while work and is unbearable. If anyone knows of a way to decrease this pain while I work, PLEASE HELP ME! I do not want to give up my job because I cannot stand to be on my feet for that many hours a day with excruciating pain. I am tired of coming home at night and curled up in a ball crying because they hurt so bad. No one understands and they just tell me I am being a wuss and to quit crying over it. If they knew how bad it hurt, how horrible it felt, I wonder if they would still think the same way.
Is my foot pain plantar fasciitis? How should I treat it? Late last week, my left foot started to hurt on the outside edge. I thought it would go away shortly, but it didn't. My foot still hurts, but the pain has migrated to the back of my arch. I'm not in pain all the time. It goes away when I sit (no surprise there) and often when I go barefoot. How should I treat myself? The pain seems to decrease when I press something against my arch. Right now, I have a nerf ball taped to the bottom of my foot. Is that a wise treatment, or would it harm me? My everyday shoes were an old pair of running shoes or an old pair of slip-ons. I think that my continued wearing of them has caused my pain. What should I do for footwear? What kind of exercise is good? I like to run, and the lack of vigorous aerobic activity is maddening. I have normal to high arches.
I am Type 2 Diabetic. I have been suffering Severe Feet pain and Swelling..burning pain..Probable Cause? The pain is a burning pain that originates in the ball area of my foot and raises to The calf muscle area. The tops of my feet swell, so much so they will no longer fit in my shoes. This has been going on for about a month, and now it is so sever I had to come home from work early tonight. My doctor said elevate my feet, if pain or swelling does not go away go to the emergency room. I've checked web md....they have way too many probable causes from bad arches to a blod clot...Any type 2 diabtics out there have something similar happen to them...if so what is the cause, and what can I do to alleviate it. ***Blood sugar isn't elevated or too low, I've been watching my diet like a hawk...nothing out of ordinary food wise....Tried changing my shoes, didnt make things better or worse.
Dropped a bowling ball on my foot.... twice.? By complete accident (I swear), I dropped a bowling ball on my right foot twice. I was cleaning shelves in my basement when I accidentally knocked it off. It hit my foot and it hurt a little bit but I didnt hear or feel a pop or anything. Then after putting the back back on its place, I knocked it off again. It hurt a little more but I figure that's just because I had already hurt my foot. It's not too painful to walk on. I do have to limp a little and walking up the stairs isn't the funnest thing. I can move everything. I doesn't hurt to wiggle my toes but moving my ankle causes some pain in the top of my foot. There is a little bruising a swelling but nothing massive. Also my toes are kinda blue. Any idea what I did. I've never really hurt myself before so I have no idea what's going on. The blue in my toes has disappeared and there is no pain there.
Foot pain? This is my first year doing high school cross country, and practice started a couple of weeks ago. We had a time trial yesterday, running a 5k as fast as we could. While I was running my foot started hurting a little, but by then I wasn't really worrying about pain. Well, it's the next morning and I can barely hobble around. The ball of my foot, right around the big toe, is killing me. Do you have any idea what it could be, what could have caused it, or what I should do?
foot pain in y7oung man? I am a healty 34 year old who has experienced gout. Laterly, though,my feet and legs have hurt as well. The pain comes and goes. The balls of my feet hurts, as well as the toes. The pain can throb or be sharp and uncomforable, sometimes causing me to limp. I look on the net, and things like diabetes come up, but my blood sugar was fine last year. Also, my knees sometimes get stiff. Could it be arthritis? If so, just take ibruprohen?
What could be the cause of severe pain in my feet while walking? When I go for a walk that lasts between 1:00 - 2:00 hours, I experience severe pain in the balls of my feet and the underside of my toes. It is excruciating and very frustrating. I have a very good pair of walking shoes. Any advice at all would be welcome.
Foot Pain Problem? I need to be on my feet constantly and I am having trouble. I wear Easy Spirit shoes with the Level 2-3 comfort, very thick gel under my heel and so forth. I spend big money on shoes made for comfort and find none. If I stand for 10 minutes or less, my heels and the balls of my feet hurt like I'm standing on bruises! It's so intense sometimes that I have to tiptoe because of the pain. It is a constant pain, like someone pushing on a bruise and not letting up. It once got so bad just from walking around my house barefoot, I had tears coming down my face while I began to crawl on my hands and knees. I'm an EMT, but I'm no doctor...I have, like, no arch in my foot either. Might that be the cause of the problem? Any help will be appreciated.
Side of my foot hurts after landing on it funny playing B-ball. Don't think its sprained, what could it be? I landed on someone's foot playing basket ball and rolled it a little, landing on the outside of my foot. In the past I have done the same, and it ended up being sprained--lots of swelling and too much pain to walk on. This is different, there is no swelling or bruising, and the outside of my foot around to the bottom of my foot hurts when I walk. Almost like that part of my foot hit the floor harder causing a nagging the pain there, but not stretching any tendons. Could there be something more serious with this type of pain? Thanks, Paul
toe cramp question? Am having a weird foot pain; any ideas? Okay, last night I was standing at the fridge & all of a sudden a weird cramp ran across my left foot from about the top of my large toe downward to the ball of my foot. It felt like knives biting into it & like little pins & needles. It lasted for maybe 10 sec. Later, when I went to bed it did it again (!) same duration, or there-abouts. Today it happened twice; once while at work (sitting) & just a few minutes ago at the supper table. Same location & everything. I have been having a lot of potassium (bananas) for running that I have been doing, but what w/ the shorter days I have slackened off of my running, but still eat bananas. Anyone know what could be causing these strange & somewhat painful inner-foot cramp? One other point: my toes do not cramp up like I have been reading in some blogs, it just effects the inner foot area down to the bottom of the ball of the toe. Any ideas??
foot pain and cycling? I started getting into cycling (both on and off road) a few years back. At one point I was going pretty hard on road, maybe doing 30 miles a trip x 3 per week in hill country (not Lance, but good for a beginner). I was also walking a bit on my off days and my left foot got to hurting pretty bad and was getting numb on the outside ball. I didn't think about the cycling causing it, but winter came and it bothered me all winter even though I wasn't cycling. Next spring I didn't get back into cycling and by summer my feet were pretty much OK. Fast forward 3 years and I got back into cycling (or at least serious enough to clip in). Immediately the numbness and pain returned and I realized what had caused my problems a few years back. My feet are pretty dry and cracking a bit so now I am treating that, but I wonder if there is some nerve I am pinching. It only really seems to be a problem clipped in, if using freeride pedals it doesn't bother me, or at least not as bad because I can put my arch more on the pedals instead of my ball. I spoke to my family doc about it and he wasn't much help. Anyone have any ideas or similar problems? I am hoping its dry skin being aggravated by the pressure as I love to cycle. Maybe better shoes or custom make a mount over the heels?
Experienced Runners: Under-pronation = Heel pain. HELP!? I'm more of a cyclist than a runner, but have been training for a triathlon. By looking at the wear on my shoes, it seems that I am turning my left foot out (there is significant wear by the toes and ball of my foot) which is causing heel pain. My right foot/heel are fine and the tread wear isn't nearly as bad - How can I stop my left foot from turning out and end this pain? Thank you for all of your help!
God created Humans in HIS image, so does that mean that He has the following Design Flaws Himself? 1. Female pelvis too small for the human baby's head making birth difficult and prone to perinatal injuries to the baby. 2. Retinal arteries/veins lying on and in front of the retina of the eyes. Many causes of blindness come from this defective design. 3. Wisdom teeth (already noted) with secondary abscesses, occasionally dissecting up into the cranium -> brain abscess, meningitis, epidural empyema. 4. Larynx too highly placed, leading to common choking deaths. 5. A bony projection, called the Odontoid Process, an extension of the C2 vertebral body lie a long finger, up to the end of the brainstem. It can easily fracture, especially in rheumatoid arthritis. That leads to death or paralysis of all extremities and inability to breathe without a mechanical ventilator. A simpler rotatory ball-socket joint would be better and safer. 6. Semi-soft disc material between vertebrae and just anterior to the spinal cord, were suited well to quadrupeds. But in humans the upper body weight compresses these and can cause herniations with mild to moderate trauma. There are 6 of these (none at C1-2) in the neck, 12 in the thoracic spine, 5 (rarely 6) in the Lumbar spine. That is 23 flaws or accidents waiting to happen. 7. Hip joints perfectly suited to support human weight if there were four of them or 4 supporting limbs. In a biped, the stress causes extremely common hip degeneration, femoral neck fractures in women and older people. How often do you hear of that in a dog or horse? 8. Knees similarly are not strong enough with the tibial cartilage in two legs for human weight, jumping down, and running. If we had 4 legs it would not be so bad. How often do you see cats with knee problems? 9. Foot and ankle bones are badly designed. Most quadrupeds walk on their toes or the balls of the feet. This puts more weight on flexible tendons, ligaments and several bending joints spreading the stress. In the human food, we are walking on essentially our leg "wrists" and balls of the foot with an arch that is traumatised by walking and standing. When it falls it has an additional problem of severe foot pain. (see 10). 10. In those fallen arches, the plantar nerves are badly placed. Instead of weaving between or over top of bones to their skin sensory receptors, these course "under" the ankle bones, under the arch to the metatarsal joints. When the arch slowly gives way it stretches those nerves and eventually compresses them. This never happens in dogs or cats. 11. Human wrist must extend to provide maximum finger flexion; a major human task is to hold things in our hands. So the wrist flexes a thousand times a day. Problem is that the median nerve runs through a bony trough covered by tough ligaments, the Carpal Tunnel. With every wrist flexion the median nerve is pulled in and out of that canal. The canal is easily narrowed by minor injuries or repetitive use. The nerve is injured causing pain, finger numbness, and weakness in thumb opposition. 12. The Elbow flexes and extends, but an important nerve, the Ulnar Nerve mostly motor to the muscles of the forearm and hand. It unfortunately does not go in front of the elbow in the safer soft tissue. It courses behind the elbow which is fine in horses, but human flex the arm at the elbow that pulls and stretches the ulnar nerve in a long course behind the elbow in an "ulnar groove" and additionally a human sitting often rest elbows on a table, and that compresses the ulnar nerve. Dogs and cats don't do that. 13. The Brachial Plexus is a cluster of the nerves to the arm that travels through a triangle with the first rib being the bottom, the collar bone in front, and the scalene muscles behind. Also in the triangle is the brachial artery to supply blood to the arm. Poor posture, hanging by exercise bars from the hands, or throwing balls, cause the triangle to compress either or both structures. This is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, the Neuronal form when the plexus is injured and vascular form when the brachial circulation is impaired. 14. Female urinary opening (urethra), vagina, and rectum all located in a close row so that rectal infection of the urethra/bladder/kidneys, or the vagina is risky. The old joke is why is the recreational park located at the sewage outflow pipes? 15. Appendix is a seemingly useless relic of evolution that often gets infected and ruptures in a life threatening peritonitis unless removed quickly. A few postulate that it might have bacterial that make certain vitamins. That is unproven. 16. Large veins in the legs, progressively dilating from standing, walking, run the risk of blood clotting when the human sits for a period of time. These veins send those clots north to the heart's right ventricle and directly into the lungs causing pulmonary emboli (clots and lung infarction) that is often fatal.) Quadruped animals rarely die of this. Many humans do. 17. Venous Cavernous Sinuses at the skull base on left and right are large draining veins from the brain. But inside of the vein there is the carotid artery taking blood into the brain, and several important nerves: III, IV, VI that control all eye movements, pupillary diameter, and lens focusing, and V-1, V-2, and V-3 that supply sensation to the eye and face. This venous structure packed with these important structures is infected by sinus infection or pustules in or on the nose. Infection causes the blood to clot (thrombosis) that injures the nerves, makes the eye bulge and swell, and can cause spreading thrombosis into the brain which can be rapidly fatal. 18. Other cranial sinuses such as the transverse are located next to the middle ear that frequently gets infected in kids. The infection spread to the venous sinus and causes thrombophlebitis, the major effect is increased fluid pressure in the brain, venous strokes, and seizures. If all of those venous drainage pipes were internally situated, there would not be such a risk. (17 and 18). 19 19. Congenital birth defects caused by structures found only in primitive animals (but still in our genes): gills in our embryonic stage may have some left over at birth and a baby may have a partial gill (technically called a branchial cleft cyst.) These can cause pain as the person grows, or develop abscesses. Another is a chordoma, tumour composed of notochord tissue only otherwise found in ancient animals like Pikaea and Amphioxus. It preceded the evolution of the bony spine. We have one in our early embryo stages but absorb it. Sometime absorption is incomplete and notochord tissue grows (tumour) unfortunately in the clivus at the base of the brain. 20. Our abdomen. It houses our stomach, our liver, our spleen, great vessels (aorta) small bowel, and colon. In quadripeds it is underneath. An attacker cannot easily get to it. The predator has to attack the tougher back and spine. But in the human the belly is sticking out there for some clawed or toothed predator or knife wielding wielding human criminal to take a swipe and eviscerate us. Ok... What does Holy actually mean? Does it not mean perfect?
help!! pain when kicking ball? I am soccer player of 13 years. Recently, after kicking a ball too high, my ankle bent back too far. Now I have pain on the inside of my foot, under the ball of my ankle and deeper near the joint. What did I do/how can I fix it? The same had happened to my other ankle almost 4 years ago and it still pops and causes pain if i kick to hard.
Why does the ball of my foot hurt when I walk? For the last 2 months, the ball of my foot has been hurting. When I walk, I cant totally bend my toe because of the pain. It is also sore to touch. It seems to just linger, even though I rest it very much, most of the day but it won't go away. I am wondering what caused this. I have been working out but only on an eliptical machine, which is just a gliding motion (no movement with my feet at all). I have been wearing shoes that were a tad too small, could that have caused the pain in the ball of my foot? Is there any relief I can get from this? I miss being able to just walk, let alone any type of quicker movement.
Mysterious foot pain? What could be causing it? Pain: The pain is located on that 'ball' spot below my big toe. When I press on the ball spot directly from the bottom of my foot, it doesn't hurt at all. Instead, if I press on the side of the ball spot (the side of my foot) it feels like something inside hurts really bad with a sharp pain. If I pull my big toe out and away from the other toes (again to the side, not up or down), the pain can be felt easier when pressed upon that side part of the ball. Any ideas on how this started or what could be causing it?? History: It first started about 6 months ago when I used to go for walks around the block (occasionally I'd jog lightly). I stopped immediately the same day that the pain started. I'm not sure if the walks caused it but I think it's worth mentioning. I haven't had it checked by a doc yet. It occasionally will randomly start hurting without being touched, but that happens off and on.
i get random foot cramps throughout the day? Just at random times in the day even when I'm sitting I get this excruciating pain right under the ball of my foot. This happens on both feet. What causes this and is there any way I can prevent these or make them less painful??
What is causing the pain that I have in my right foot? -The pain is on the ball of my foot and it hurts when I stand on it or when I apply pressure to it. -It sits mostly right under my 2nd and 3rd toes. -I do NOT wear high heels and I wear shoes that are good for my feet so I know it's not that. -I am slightly overweight but far from obese and this condition is brand new so it is not weight related. This is really hurting me and I wanna get back to working out. What is this and how can I treat it? The pain is only in a small spot on the ball of my foot. The rest of my foot has no effect from it at all.
Pain on the top of my foot? I'm a college basketball player, and about 5 days ago I started noticing some pain on the superior lateral portion of my foot, over the 4th and 5th metatarsals. The pain wasn't too bad at fist, and I had felt similar pain before, so I didn't think anything of it, assuming it would go away the next day like it had in the past. It's been progressively getting worse each day, with the pain spreading to the entire top of my foot, and some pain referring to the lateral side of my ankle. I've noticed that if I stay in the half court, the pain isn't too bad unless I step on my foot a certain way. But following any type of running (even just once up and down the court) the pain becomes so severe that I can't run without a limp, and it continues to hurt severely until I rest it for an extended amount of time. The pain occurs when I shift my weight to the ball of my foot (and the foot bends to push off forwards), it's a sharp stabbing pain (feels like someone is crushing my foot with a hammer). I talked to our Athletic Trainer about it, and she initially diagnosed it as a mid-foot sprain, but said it could possibly be stress fractures. There is no swelling, and no tenderness to touch (unless the foot is caused to bend). I'm hesitant to go to the doctor, because if it turns out to be fractured, my basketball career is over. I'm planning on getting some custom orthotics, as recommended by one of my teammates. (we are currently on a 1 week break for Christmas, so I'm waiting to see if it heals during that time) Has anyone had experience with this, or have any ideas of what it could be? I'm also looking for ways to control the pain enough to continue playing through it if it doesn't go away. (I've tried a few different taping methods, but those seem to cause pressure on other parts of my foot causing more pain). With the position I'm at with this team, I can't afford to be injured (I'm the new walk-on player trying to secure a spot... I don't play much in games or practice scrimmages, so even if it is something more serious like a fracture, I could make it through the season with some pain management techniques, and then get it taken care of afterwards) Any advice?
How to prevent pain in the balls of my feet from high heels? There are a couple shoes i have (both heels and sneakers) which cause pain to the balls of my feet. Does anyone know any remedies to prevent the pain, and do the pads from Dr. Scholls for Her work? plz dont tell me to "trash them", i kinda love them
foot pain in y7oung man? I am a healty 34 year old who has experienced gout. Laterly, though,my feet and legs have hurt as well. The pain comes and goes. The balls of my feet hurts, as well as the toes. The pain can throb or be sharp and uncomforable, sometimes causing me to limp. I look on the net, and things like diabetes come up, but my blood sugar was fine last year. Also, my knees sometimes get stiff. Could it be arthritis? If so, just take ibruprohen? I also do a lot of walking on concrete.
Whats causing the pain at the ball of my feet? I have callus on the ball of my feet, but even after removal I'm still in excruciating pain. It hurts when I walk all the time. It feels like I'm walking on a nail. Could this be deeper than dead skin? Could this be the bone?
severe pain in the ball of my foot and caused by no obvious injury...? I woke up this morning (and I'm ruling out the possibility of doing it in my sleep as surly, as I'm in this much pain, I would have woken up?) with severe pain in the ball of my foot [on my left foot]. As the day has gone on and with me limping everywhere and not being able to put any pressure on it (other than the side of my foot away from the ball). I can't bend any of my toes as much on my left as my right now because of this pain. It's throbbing and then I get shooting pains also! I'm in agony. I've never had it before, and I haven't done any exercise since Thursday, oh and I don't wear high heels either, so I'm very confused. Anyone know what this could be? and do I need to see a doctor? Many Thanks. Will reward with points etc.
What can help my severe foot pain? I am a waitress and just 21 years old. I weigh about 150 pounds.. not too fat but im definitely not the skinniest thing out there, either.. so im pretty sure my weight is not the main cause of my foot pain. At work, my feet kill me, only just halfway into the shift! And I dont mean, "ow my feet hurt" from walking all day, I am talking about severe foot pain to where I am almost in tears.. its on the heel of my foot and sometimes the ball of my foot where my sesamoid bones are, but mainly the heel. This occurs in both feet, but the worst is in my left foot. I cashier sometimes too and just standing in one place for hours worsens it. When I waitress it doesnt get as bad, but yesterday i worked a double, from 11:30am to 10:30 pm and by 4:30 my feet were killin me again.. and let me mention, i just bought the custom orthotics from walmart for 50 dollars two weeks ago. I noticed that when I get off work and rest... when i get up i cant even walk because it hurts to put the pressure on my feet... especially when I wake up too! I cant even walk.. i have to limp or walk on my tip toes. It hurts so bad. Well, my question is.. today, at work, my knee just started killing me. I could not bend down to pick up a fork and get back up without pain. As I lay in the bed, my knee feels stiff and I cant even stretch it all the way without pain.. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause of this (other than walking on cement floors for hours and hours).. and if so, any remedies? I am thinking about seeing a podiatrist if all else fails!!!!
Pain in ball of feet? Hi, for the past four days I've been experiencing pain in the ball of my left foot, it hurts a lot when walking and it sometimes aches and stings a little when resting it on the floor. I do have flat feet so I think that this may be the cause, does anybody know what I could possibly do to get rid of the pain when I walk? Thanks =)
Cause of knee and foot pain? OK. I have this bad pain that keeps moving on me it seems like every 2-3 days. It was in my left knee for a couple of weeks. Then it moved over to the back and side of my right knee and ligaments around the knee. Now it is centered on the top of my right foot and the pain is especially bad in the heel of my right foot. I no longer have insurance so I haven't been to the doctor. I've been diagnosed with gout in the past, but it usually remains in the ball and big toe of my foot. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this weird movement of pain in my knees and feet?
Excruciating Pain in Foot? I woke up fine and then, about an hour later, the ball of my left foot is causing me excruciating pain when I put weight on it. All day it's been ebbing and flowing but at its worst, it's nauseating. Please note: I have no redness, swelling, or fever. I'm not overweight. My diet isn't awesome but I don't live on McDonald's either. The pain is in the fleshy part of the ball of my foot, not in the joint. The pain is localized but not like I have something stuck in my foot. I have no memory of injuring it. I'm not on any medications. Please offer good suggestions about what it might be, don't just tell me to go see a doctor without backing it up with a good reason. I am a pretty light sleeper. Although it's possible, I don't think it's likely that I hit it on something while sleeping.
pain in arch, ball of feet. high arch? For years now I have known that I have had high arches (more in my right foot causing me to put weight on the outside of my foot) and it is starting to become a bigger issue. I have been more active lately and have really felt the pain. I have had orthotics for some time now and I feel they have done nothing except cause a burning sensation after wearing them all day especially at the balls of my feet. I actually feel slightly less pain when I DONT wear them. I am curious to know if anyone may some some suggestions on what to do to besides surgery (since I know it isn't an extreme case of high arches). Does anyone recommend a certain type of shoe? Are there exercises/stretches that I can do? What has worked for those who suffer the same as me?
Sharp pain in ball of foot!!!!!!!!? ok like 5 months ago. i started to have some back pain. started at my lower back and worked its way up till my whole back was in pain. i was sitting on my bed all fine except tight pain in back. then i go to step down on the floor and it feels like a knife stabbing in the ball of my foot. i cant make my foot go flat on the floor. it would only let me point. the pain was so horrible that for like a week i couldn't walk. i had to roll around the house in a chair. i know pitiful. but i didn't have insurance so no doctor. my back pain got worse. all i could do was lay in bed. i cried alot cause it hurt soooo bad!!! then i look at my hurt foot and there was a bruise on the ball of my footdidn'tidnt do anything to bruise nmy foot. so im like what the heck!? and also my foots starting to turn purple color. so it made me freak out. gradually i started to try to make my foot go flat. cause it needed circulation. and in 3 days i could walk again but it was still painful. a week later it was 100 percent better. ok so i just wanna know if any one else has experienced this. and what is it??? also im scared it will happen again. cause my back tends to hurt alot.

fitflop are causing pain in foot? I bought a pair of fitflops recently and they are causing pain at the ball of my foot, I have tried leaving them off for a couple of days and started again but its still the same and my feet keep going into cramp does anyone else have any issues with them
Do Calluses on the bottom of your foot cause pain? i've had some thing under the ball of my foot adjacent with the big toe. and for about 3-4 weeks or so i've just dealt with it and it messed up foot print when i walk. and i google up corn/callus/plantarwart blah blah eveyrthing diabeites/infection. i tried to figure it out myself. It seemed most likely a plantar wart. So i got the sacrylic acid and all, so i been putting on the acid. And i get impatient with things so i would just start picking at it and eveutnally a big white chunk of skin layering over the whole thing would peel off and i even burned the damn thing with a lighter cuz it was pissing me off. Of course it would start heating up n wuld cause pain n i would pussy out from going any further. Anyways i went to the doctor today cuz nothing was changing with the damn thing. And he shaved away at it and it HURT so bad. he would squeeze it like a zit and it hurt so freaking bad. And he was intrigued because if it was callus it wouldn't hurt. he was amazing and how much pain it caused me. So he thought maybe there is something int here. like a splinter or glass. So he kept shaving at it and he stopped and said by there i shoulda hit something, so there was no splinter. So his last conclusion was it doesnt look like a plantar wart and its not a callus cuz the pain. So it must be a infection. So im relived its not HPV on my foot. PHEW. but now i got a damn infection? forreal... i dun even look bad. And he wants me to take pain killers +antibiotics. he's not a foot doctor and my foot doctor appointment is in like 5 days but after re googling and stuff anda fter what the doctor said. I still think this just might be a Foot Callus. Now i gotta know if whether a Foot callus causes pain or not. Cuz when u squeeze mine like its a zit, it fucing hurts. But i can walk on it, now that the doc shaved it, it hurts more when i walk, but before it was fine when i had shoes on. Barefeet on wood at home was uncomfortable. Thanks guys!
Severe foot pain? Whats the cause? The Bottom of my foot has been killing me the last few days. Its hot itchy and painful type pain. I have to stand on my feet all day nearly everyday as I work a very big work schedule. Its really hard to undertake my work as i cant wait to get off so i can get home and just put my feet in cold water and not walk on them for the rest of the day. The pain is located along the side of my foot, the inside of my foot the heel and the ball basically its all over. What can be causing this? and what Can i do to stop it happening as I cannot Take another week of work with this pain. also I have flat feet and inserts. They don't seem to make any difference they just aggravate me more.
i've had a foot callus for 5 yrs no matter how i try i cant get rid of it. it causes me pain in the morning? for a few minutes,i cant walk barefoot without scrunching up my toes to protect it its on the ball of my foot. if i walk on uneven ground i limp a little to protect my foot from hurting more i have tried everything to get rid of it, a callus blade has been the best to shave it off but it comes back in days. i'm wondering if its actually protecting something like a wart and thats why it comes bk stronger than ever its driving me mad .any sugestions pleeeease
Pain on the bottom of my foot after running 9 miles? I ran 9 miles this morning and after i took my shoes off I noticed a pain in my foot. It is in the middle to top part of my foot below my toes (on the bottom part of my foot). When i walk it hurts really bad. It almost feels like there is a big ball in my foot that is causing the pain. I am used to running this much bc i ran track and am now doing xc. What is wrong?
What could be the cause of my foot pain!? I dont remember damaging it in any way but the ball of my right foot is quite painful, its fine to touch, but when i walk, i have to walk on the side or the back of my foot. Its been going on for over a week now, there is no visible swelling or bruising so i have no idea what could be causing this or what brought it on. Any clues?
What is causing the pain in the arch of my foot? I ran/walked 5 miles 5 days ago. Since then, the arch of my foot has been hurting at all of my X-C practices. I had a meet today, and it hurt so much after I decided to do something about it. Earlier in the week, I asked my coach and he told me to roll my foot over a tennis ball, which hasn't helped much. It only hurts when I put weight on the ball/toes of my foot. What is causing this?
Causes of foot pain?!?!?!? I've been experiencing pain in the bottom of my foot, predominantly in the ball and arch, for a few weeks, and it has recently spread to my ankle. It hurts a lot when I walk, but not when I jog or run, but when I stop it hurts a lot more than walking. The pain varies from being a slight throbbing to excruciating. I think it might be the muscle but I'm not sure. I'm looking for some ideas of what it could be. I am going to go to the doctor soon if it continues, which I believe it will, but have put it of so far because if it is the muscle they cannt do anything but prescribe ibrofofen, which I'm allergic to, and I don't want to waste their time. Anyway, I would be eternally grateful for any ideas as to causes, and I hope that I have explained it well enough to give a brief description of the pain. Thank you in advance for any answers! ^_^
I Have Pain Near My Knee When I Put Pressure On The Ball Of My Foot? Ever since i fell two days a go i cannot put heavy pressure on the ball of my right foot, it doesn't bother me when I'm walking but when I'm walking up or down stairs it hurts as it puts pressure on the ball of my foot, but the weird thing is that the actual pain is not in the foot but is near my knee, i may have landed on my knee when i fell but what would cause pain in my knee area when I put pressure on the ball of my foot? There is no bruising or swelling and when i touch or put pressure on the area of my knee it doesn't hurt I've rested it for 2 days and it doesn't seem to have got any better. Do not say i have a disease or something stupid like cancer as this is clearly a physical injury I haven't got a clue whats wrong, it may be a trapped nerve or a slight dislocation, i simply don't know Thanks In Advance :)
Severe, stiff, sore pain in the ball of my foot? In the ball of my foot, where the big toe is joined, i am having alot of pain. it has been progressively worse going on for about 4 days now, everyday getting more and more sore. i begin to think its getting better, only to realize i have been altering the way i walk on it to avoid the pain. as soon as i apply regular standing pressure, its extremely painful and i am not able to do so. I have read a little bit about Gout, but am still unsure if that is the problem. My boyfriend suggested it might be the shoes ive been wearing (although i have had them for months now, and never before had a problem), so i switched to a different old faithful pair, and am still having the same problems. i am not able to pull the toe backwards as far as the other one on my other foot without great pain. it almost has a stiff, sore feeling. i am not overweight at all and i dont eat an excessive amount of meats, so that is why i am doubtful that it is high uric acid possibly causing Gout. On my other foot about a week ago i had a very similar pain, but alot less painful in my heel. after about a week, it went away and feels fine now. This new painful, sore, stiff feeling on my other foot, is much more painful and much more severe and is affecting my walking. If you know what this could be, please help. thank you By the way, I dont stand up for long periods of time, and i also never wear high heels.
Podiatrist - Dx my foot pain!? SO, I've been trying to get in shape and doing a little walk/jog around the neighborhood a few night per week. Now I have developed this pain essentially on the ball of my lt foot. It is exquisitely touch tender, but on a very specific point. I would say this point is not ON the ball of my foot, but just on the big toe side of the ball of the foot. It causes pain to curl my toes, flex my toes, and of course to walk. If I prop my feet up on the coffee table, I essentially cannot flex my lt ankle towards me; or at least not in the same fashion as my right. Everyone is saying "bone" spur. I don't really know what that means. I thought "gout", but I've never really had any trouble with that, and no diet changes to speak of. I did have moderate pain the other night, when on my walk/run anyway, and now the pain is quite severe x2 days. Also, if it's important, then tender-to-touch point is very small. Essentially no pain just a few mm either side of this point. Any thoughts? Also, wifey wants me to go to my PCP. Not really sure what she would do and would love to save the co-pay. Thanks in advance!
Could a sprained small toe cause pain in ball of foot? A few weeks ago I seemed to keep twisting my middle toe up. I think ti was a combination of the shoes I was wearing and how i was walking. Now I have a great tenderness in the ball of my foot when I walk and exert pressure on it. Has anyone had experience with this? Are the two related? Thanks.
