Any natural relief for foot pain for diabetics? My mom is a diabetic and has alot of pain in her feet. She has a sit down job, but her feet hurt her all the time. Her doctor has her on a medicine called Neurotin, but she can only take it at night because she gets so sleepy on it. I know that if she had a better diet it would help her. I also tell her to walk on the treadmill thinking that maybe getting some bloodflow to her feet will help her, but she says that makes them hurt worse and she can barely walk from the driveway to her front door. Does anyone know of some natural things, or even other pain killers, or anything that might help her with her feet. I have heard of diabetics having to get their feet cut off and i do not want it to come to that, please help!

Diabetic neuropathy horrible pain in feet, need relief ideas and how often should Lantus be uped if still high Son 19 years old, working on getting Lantus adjusted to the correct level. Readings are not yet in normal range and spike in mornings. pain normally wakes him up every morning and gets some relief during day but hurt off and on then in evening hurts bad to the point of crying and yelling in pain, just wants the pain to go away and not hurt. Seems like he will hurt forever and can't see out of it. Hurt really bad when bringing readings down from 500's then it seemed to get better when consistently down in the 300's and falling lower at times and now when he is running in the upper 100's average then jumping to upper 200's AM the pain seems worse then when he was coming down from the 500's. Taking pain med Hydrocodone, but it doesn't seem to work very long and doesn't help the shooting pains. We have been unable to get a call back from the doctor this week to check on upping Lantus. Taking Lyrica and Amitriptalin, Lantus 33u 1xday and Novalog 8u with meals with sliding scale adj added.

What causes pain in my foot and ankles? I am a type 2 diabetic and for the last 6 years, on occasion, my feet/ankles will hurt so bad that they feel like they are broke, nearly impossible to walk. What could be the cause of this? Thank you.
Diabetic -- injury to foot? Hi i'm a type 2 diabetic. For a couple of weeks now i've had unexplained pains in my foot. It was like it was at both sides of my foot, no-where else. Anyway a week and a half ago, a concrete block fell on my foot. My toes and top of my foot ( same foot as pains were in) were hurt the worst, nothing broke but badly bruised and swollen. My foot feels fine now, and the swelling has gone, although not the bruising but my big toe feels like its on fire, its constantly paining me, although im takin diafene painkillers its not easing the pain at all, and it all red!! how long should it take to heal, or being a diabetic what should i watch out for as i know you have to take specail care with your feet when your a diabetic. I did attend a&e as i first thought it was broke, it was so swollen, but nothing broken they said, just sent me home with painkiller/anti-inflammatory tablets, and didn't say wether i should visit gp afterwards or anything??
I am Type 2 Diabetic. I have been suffering Severe Feet pain and Swelling..burning pain..Probable Cause? The pain is a burning pain that originates in the ball area of my foot and raises to The calf muscle area. The tops of my feet swell, so much so they will no longer fit in my shoes. This has been going on for about a month, and now it is so sever I had to come home from work early tonight. My doctor said elevate my feet, if pain or swelling does not go away go to the emergency room. I've checked web md....they have way too many probable causes from bad arches to a blod clot...Any type 2 diabtics out there have something similar happen to them...if so what is the cause, and what can I do to alleviate it. ***Blood sugar isn't elevated or too low, I've been watching my diet like a hawk...nothing out of ordinary food wise....Tried changing my shoes, didnt make things better or worse.
Can a lot of my leg/feet problems be associated with lower back pain in addition to being diabetic? My left heel constantly hurts in one particular spot. The podiatrist has ruled out heel spur. I am diabetic and presently having problems with ingrown toenails (been removed but had three infections since April, two of which are from the procedure used. I am also having incredible itching behind both knees. I use lotion and compresses but only get temporary relief.
how long does it take for a diabetic foot ulcer to develop? umm i have a cast and i believe its called a diabetic foot ulcer, when part of your foot is wet and cannot try, so it stays wet and develps into a diabetic foot ulcer. i have a cast on for the next week and i have already had to change my cast once before because i my cast wet on the bottom of my foot. but i have another one i think on the top of my foot, its around the same pain as it was before but not as bad. i was just wondering if i should leave it because theres only seven days left with my cast until i get it off, or go back to get it taken off. i dont exactly want to go back because the hospital have already stated that there going to be very angry if i come back. i only can feel the same pain when i push down on it.
Diabetes and Foot Pain? I am a newly diagnosed diabetic and I'm 45 years old. I am also fairly active as I am a HS football official. After the game on Friday night, I have pain in one or both my feet. In one foot, it's on the heel, on the other on the pad below my toes. It isn't always the same combination and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all. I've been diagnosed with plantar faciatis (sp?) in one foot, but the pain doesn't feel like that. Could this be linked to my diabetes? Would those diabetic "circulation socks" help at all? Or am I just getting old?
anything to help diabetic neurooathy of the foot? I keep getting sharp pains on the side of my foot (like stabing pains)
Diabetics, could you describe where on the feet you get discomfort or kinda pain? 6 months ago my Dr said I was borderline diabetic. Since then I am getting crampy-pain that moves around my feet from the soles to the top. Does this sound like diabetic feet? Can you describe yours? Thanks
What is Diabetic Nerve pain? I have this burning, shooting, stabbing pain on the bottom of my foot. I have had it for about three to four months. I has got to where it starts throbbing at the end of the day. My Dr. told me that it is diabetic nerve pain. What exactly causes it? The dr. has put me on cymbalta and lyrica.
Are there any self-help ways to deal with diabetic neuropathy pain in the feet? My husband was up all night because one of his feet (maybe his calf too, it varies) was burning and tingling from diabetic neuropathy. He has his blood sugar under good control (HA1C is 6.9% usually) doesn't smoke & only drinks a glass of wine like once a month. He exercises a lot & isn't overweight. He tried taking Tylenol last night and said it didn't help at all. I was wondering if there are some little tricks that work so his feet won't bother him at night so much, rather than adding yet another prescription drug that has a lot of side effects. He only gets this problem once in awhile. Thank you!! Medical marijuana is not legal in this state. And he did try massaging his foot/calf & said it didn't help at all.
What are some home treatments for dealing with pain due to diabetic neuropathy? My dad has type 2 diabetes, and his legs and feet are always numb and tingling, and sometimes it feels like someone is stabbing needles into his feet and toes. What are some ways to help with that?
Is there a natural herb that I can take to help the pain of diabetic neuropathy in my hands and feet? my hands and fingers STING so bad its like a constant burning stinging sharp breath taking pain has to be some kind of herb that could help its worse at night
Walkers/Runners--newbie with foot pain question? This summer when I went to my doctor to see what could possibly be causing my recent numerous migraines, the answer turned out to be my blood sugar. I am not a diabetic, but if I can't learn to behave myself, there are needles in my future. I don't want that! So I started watching my diet and walking daily, early in the morning to avoid the heat. Usually my friend walks, too, and we go at a pretty good clip. I wear several different pairs of athletic shoes for walking, because I wear them almost exclusively, flats only occasionally, and heels maybe a few times a year. I have also been "jogging" with the Wii Fit from time to time, doing the Free Run and doing the actual jogging on a jogging trampoline. I have had a minor, nagging pain in the ball of my left foot off and on for several months now, even before I started exercising. It seems to date from when I had to wear my chorus shoes (character shoes, if you know what those are) for several hours for chorus competition in the spring. They are heels about and inch and a half high, and they are the highest shoes I own. When I am standing, walking, or jogging, the pain feels like I have a lump in the ball of the foot, but when I sit down to examine it, there is no lump there. I actually have had a foot x-ray, because my regular doctor didn't know what it is, either. Nothing showed up on the x-ray. As far as I can tell, it seems to make no difference which shoes I wear, or whether I walk or jog. In fact, I can't tell that anything I do makes a difference. (Just for the record, I have lost about 25 pounds since I started, but there's plenty of weight left.) I have only missed doing at least SOME exercise on two days in over two months, but I don't recall a difference then either. It comes and goes as it pleases. We haven't been able to afford for me to see a foot doctor, but I may be able to do that in a few weeks. Until then, any advice? Do you have any idea what this is? I have no hope of continuing to lose weight without the exercise, and would probably start piling it right back on. I can't stay off my feet anyway, because I am a stay-at-home mom with a two-year-old. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I will also be posting a couple of related questions shortly. Thanks! (I will also be posting this in the health category.)
Foot pain after neuroma surgeries? I have had several neuroma surgeries on my right foor and one on the left. Now my right foot tingles, itchy feeling,or like something burning up on the middle toe and shoots toward the arch. The Podiatrist has used alcohol shots to kill the nerves but that hasn't helped. He has me on high doses of vit. B12 for diabetic neuropothy. During the day it's uncomfortable but at night it is really distracting and I have trouble sleeping. Any help will do.
What can be done for diabetic neuropathy? I am 47 and diabetic. The pain and numbness in my feet and legs is getting worse. I am on pain meds for it but it doesn't work to completely eliminate the pain. Some days I cannot function at all. Am I destined to be in a wheelchair? I see my doctor regularly. She prescribed the pain meds and support hose. I also had quad bypass surgery last Dec. and since then my feet swell, too. No one seems to have an answer for me that actually helps. The pain gets to me sometimes and I get depressed because of it.

I was the one with the foot problem.50# overweight, heel pain, arch pain, feet get numb. Been to foot Doc.? I have orthodics, better support shoes, not diabetic. Been to podiatrist. Motrin and anti infammatories don't help. Still stand on feet 7hours a day. Oh, yeah, I have lupus(systemic), since 1997. Foot problem new this year.
I've had increasing foot pain over past decade (am now 35). Also leg and knee pain.? This really started in my mid 20's, as well as episodes of chronic fatigue and fever and inflammation type symptoms. I also have always had poor circulation. I did see a doctor years ago and he just wanted to put me on anti deppresants, which i have also taken off and on for years. I've been told I should see a Rheumatologist but do not currently have med. insurance. Just curious if anyone experiences similar symptoms and has any ideas on what I may be dealing with as the problems seem to be getting worse after having 2 babies. I do also have a lot of diabetic symptoms (had gestational diabetes w/ last 2 preg) and really need to follow-up and have blood glucose testing again, so don't know how much these issues could play into things as well. Just want to get well to raise my kids! Gonna have to seek help somewhere. Thanks =0)
Does anyone know any kind of pain treatment for Diabetic nerve damage that is natural or herbal? My mother is 63 years old and has Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes, Shingles, Gout, Edema, and Lung Disease. Over the past 14 months she has injured the bottom of her feet , the first injury occur ed when she stepped on an ice cube that was on the kitchen floor. She didn't slip and she did not fall but the pain that was to come for the next 2 weeks was most excruciating and almost unbearable at times! She could not walk on either foot or bear any weight on them, it was really unbelievable the pain in both feet from so little trauma to the one foot!! About 8 days ago she stepped on a little bitty piece of macaroni on the kitchen floor and has been writhing in pain and unable to walk ever since!! She has been taking Ati van and Tram dole for the pain but its pretty much not doing anything. What Im wondering is if there is any Herbal or natural products to help ease this type of pain??
I am diabetic. On a few days each month I have painful feet. How can I treat? I have sharp jabs of foot pain that are very painful whenever they occur throughout a bad day.
What hope is there for this diabetic foot? My grandmother is 65 and has diabetes. Her foot looks very similar to this picture (although it is on this inside of her foot, not on the bottom). http://www.aafp.org/afp/20021101/1655_f1.jpg The hole leaks fluids daily. She can not walk without her specially made cast (because the bone in her foot is deformed). She is always experiencing leg pains. Doctors have tried various things for years... Do you think there is hope that the wound will heal? Is there a chance that her foot will recover? Thank you so much for your honest imput. :D
sharp pain applying pressure to left foot...what is this? i am almost 30, female, type 2 diabetic, HBP and overweight. i know my weight is contributing to my health problems but would like to know what this specific problem is..this pain is reoccurring and random. Sometimes when I am walking and having to put pressure on my left foot/leg I feel a sharp pain in my left buttocks, upper left hip area. It has been causing me to have to put most of the pressure on my right foot/leg when walking around the house. What could be causing this type of localized pain? Ty.

I have Diabetic Neuropathy pain in my feet and sometimes the pain makes it that I can hardly...? ...walk as the pain is so bad. I watch my sugar and take medicine as I"m a light diabetic. The pain seems to be getting more intense as the weeks go on. The other day I took a walk as it wasn't so bad when I started. I walked maybe 1/2 mile and on the way back it got so intense I was starting to wonder if I was going to make it back. I was ready to flag down a car because it was so bad. I take gabapentin but it doesn't seem like its working anymore. I do have a serious back injury also. What can I take that will help be deal with this horrible pain as I can't do anything! If somebody said for me to stand on my head for 24 hours I would do it.
morphin is good for what? I was given oxicodone 15mg and morphin 60 mg for chronic diabetic foot pain but they don't help ease the pain. Plus, I don't take them as I should being I don't want to get hooked. What's a better alternative?
My Diabetic Mom has Pain in her feet? My mom is a diabetic with neuropothy, and she is experiencing pain in her feet, then it made its way up to the back of her knees, and her feet are swollen. She fears its a blood-clot. She called her doctors, they say its nothing to be worried about. Should she be worried?
Please Help with Diabetic foot pain? I am a diabetic and suffer from serious foot pain. I have tried every kind of medication the doctors have to offer. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.
random, sharp, stabbing pain bottom of foot? From time to time I get these extremely sharp shooting pains on the bottom of my right foot. Like someone is stabbing needles into my sole between my ball and the heel. Out of the blue, and I cannot figure out if there is anything I am doing to aggravate it. I have a back injury, and thought it was related to that until I saw an ad for a Diabetic nerve pain relief and the foot was about to step on tacks. YIKES! Is it one or the other or both? I have an appointment to see Dr. end of month. Would like to have an idea of what I might be dealing with BEFORE I go. I have had a bout of these pains over the past 48 hours, Now I am noticing they are on the ball of my foot more than the middle. The pain is so sharp and quick and intense I just paid attention to that, not where. Does this help at all? Sitting down, lying, standing. Hate it when It happens when I am driving.
big toe pain right foot only? i'm 71 years old i'm a diabetic and my big toe right foot lots of pain i take gabapentin for neurapthy what could be wrong
what should I do for my foot care? I am suffering from diabetic and I always have pain in my foot.
What does diabetes has to do with foot pain? I believe I am diabetic because I have this pain in my foot, ankle and all the way to half my calf. I have heard diabetes could cause this pain. What connection would sugar in the blood have to do with a foot?
Foot pain/numbness/tingling? I've noticed over the last week that I keep getting strong, stabbing pains in my right foot on the top near the toes. The pains have been getting worse and more frequent over time and usually happen with movement, although I can walk completely fine. I do about two hours of exercise a week and a lot of walking, but I've been doing that for years with no problems and I don't think that's the cause. I also get slight tingling on the same foot, it's barely noticeable but kinda weird. And in the other foot I've noticed for almost a month now that my big toe is going numb; I can still feel it and it's not to do with the cold (it's more noticeable in bed when I'm warm) but it's slightly worrying! I'm just about to turn 18, female, have a few other health concerns but nothing major, I'm not diabetic, relatively fit and BMI of 21.4. No tingling/pain/numbness in my hands or arms. Anybody got any ideas what it might be? Would rather not go to the doctor unless it gets really bad or could be serious, as the surgery here is shocking and they already think I'm enough of a hypochondriac as it is (apparently having blood-test-confirmed glandular fever is no excuse for not wanting to go to school, and it was 3 weeks before I was given antibiotics for pneumonia). Also, I'm REALLY not diabetic; no diabetes in my family and I eat pretty healthily
Diabetic Foot pains question? I'm a diabetic and not only do I have pains in both my big toes, I have pains in the area between my shin and my foot, the joint I guess you can say. I'm a bit worried that I might have to get my feet amputated but I don't want to jump to conclusions and I don't want to ask my doctor because not only do I not want him to tell me that I might need to get my feet cut off, I don't have medical insurance to pay for test and hospital bills. Does anyone have any advice for me? Please tell me what I should do.
Is there any way to mitigate prickling pain due to diabetic? My mother 80 years old is a diabetic patient. She often complaints an excruciating prickling pain at both her feet below knuckle. The local Doctors say considering her age and being a diabetic nothing can be done to ease her pain. They are of the opinion that any pain killer can harm her body internal organ. Under the above circumstances will some expert say is there any way around.

Extreme Foot Pain, PLEASE HELP? My feet feel like the skin has been ripped off. This is extremely painful. My toes are effected as well. I am on no medications and am not diabetic. My Doctor can't seem to figure out what is wrong. He thinks I'm crazy !!! The pain is enough to send you over the edge. This has been going on for several years. I can't get any relief Please, if anyone has any idea what is causing this please tell me !!
Diabetic foot problems? I broke my foot in 2009 and found out I was diabetic the hard way. I developed an ulcer, which led to a severe bone infection and eventually I had about 3 inches of bone removed from my foot. Time has gone by and I still experience severe pain in my feet. At times it feels like my feet are broken. I take gabapentin, but to be honest it doesn't help! So I deal with it ,even though at times life sucks. Anyhow, I am only 34. My wife and I were recently blesses with a newborn son in April. This has awakened a spirit in me that has made me really want to get better and in shape. I used to be an avid backpacker and recently picked it back up. Everything seemed to be going ok and I am losing weight, but after a small hike yesterday I noticed my feet felt pretty badly and blistered. When I checked them they were fine, but this morning I looked again and I do in fact have a blister on my pinky toe. Now to most this may seem petty, but considering that I went through hell before I am quite concerned. My question is what do I do? Will I ever be able to enjoy the things in life I once did without complete anxiety over my feet? It seems like my only options are to stay off my feet.
Nutrilite Protein Powder for type 1 diabetic female ? Dear Doctor,my mother(51 yrs) is diabetic from last 6-7 yrs...she used to take Oral medicine....was diagnosed for DKA(went in to coma) last year, from then she takes insulin 3 times a day(Lupisulin M50) and no other medication. After that incident she does not feel active in doing work, suffers pain in her legs also(sometimes the pain shoots up),the doctor has suggested that it is not Diabetic foot pain, may be its coz of some vitamin or cal deficiency.Recently i heard about the Nutrilte products are they really helpful?...is it okay if she consumes Nutrilite Protein powder?..what effect will protein powder have on her sugar levels? do they have any side effects?...Also i would like to know whether she can take Nutrilite Daily tablets And Nutrilite Cal Mag D?
Diabetic Leg Pain-HELP!? I've been a diabetic for around 12 years. Over the past few years, I have started to develop some foot and leg pain, especially when I sleep, or it's hot, or i've been walking around a lot. I know that this goes with the territory of having diabetes. I am on vacation now, and took 2 plane rides to get here. My feet swelled up on the plane, which is not uncommon for a diabetic, and since we landed 2 days ago i've been trying to drink lots of water and walk around. But while in the car today, I started having severe radiating leg pain in my left leg, from the back of my thigh, all the way down to the back of my calves. I was wondering if anyone else has had this kind of pain experience while traveling? What can I do to lessen the pain? I was thinking just some asprin to thin the blood maybe, and tons of water. Any insight would be amazing since I am in so much pain and just want to enjoy my vacation without worry! Thank you all! Thank you all for your replies! My diabetes is relatively under control. I've been recovering from an eating disorder which has thrown off my digestive system quite a bit, but my sugar levels aren't out of the ordinary anymore. I took a couple multi-vitamins and some aspirin earlier to help alleviate the pain, and i'm feeling a lot less of it now. I just think the stress of the airplane mixed with some over-eating on this trip contributed to some circulatory problems. I was wondering if anyone else with diabetes experienced any pain or irregularities while traveling? if so, how did you handle it?

What is diabetic foot or leg pain like? I was diagnosed with a "pre-diabetes" condition about four years ago. Now, I am starting to feel pain in my left foot and calf. Could someone plz tell me what diabetic foot pain is like? My pain is always in my left leg, and it is not really excruciating, just annoying. Sometimes it hurts a little bit more so I can't walk; but still I can't say I have "severe" pain. It is more like a spasm. and when I rest, it gets well gradually, but starts again when I get up and walk. Could it be that I have diabetes? I have heard that diabetic foot/leg pain is so severe that people cannot even bear the weight of a blanket on their feet, or it hurts so bad when they touch their feet or legs. Mine is nothing like that!
im diabetic and having bad foot pain? Also my foot is staying swollen toes numb
What to do when a diabetic foot is in pain? Im googling it and all i read is what to do to prevent foot pain. But not what to do when one gets the pain.... my dad has a swollen foot ... a splinter was removed.. and hes in more pain than yesterday
Diabetic with foot is swollen, yellow patch and red patch forming.. help? My dad had a splinter underneath his foot and a blister in the middle of it. The prationar at the walk-in centre then took the splinter out. And its been 5 days and my dad feet hasnt improved, he is still in pain and his head aches. Its like migrane feeling which is link to his foot pain. So Its been 4 days, I went to the A&E. And they said that its because his feet has infection and we have to give the antiobiotics a chance to heal it. Well now its 5 days now, and hes been on paracetamol and iburofen. His pain comes back every 4 hours later. And its not improving. What can I do to help him? He has a yellow round patch which looks like a blister size.. with a red patch spreading. I even called NHS direct and they didnt gave me a call back...
Foot pains, only when applied pressure? Recently I've been having foot pains, at first when in the shower (bath tub base), today I did a bit more walking than usual (Vans shoes, not the greatest support I'm assuming) Mainly, I was wondering what would most likely cause this pain. I'm hoping for the simplest cause, like simply tired feet, but I don't walk long distances. This question mainly comes from my paranoia of Diabetes. Is diabetic foot pain anything like what I described?
