Pain on top of foot, please help!? I just got home from a volleyball match and i have a stabbing pain on the top inner part of my left foot whenever I walk. I don't think it's swollen, but there are 2 faint blackish blue skinny streaks. Does anyone have a clue what this may be?

What could be the cause of pain on top of the foot? I've had pain on the top area of my foot for a few weeks now, specifically around the metatarsal of the second toe. At first it was very mild, and after a few days of resting the pain went away. Recently I started exercising again (after a break of about a week) and the pain is back in the same spot. It hurts to walk or put a lot of pressure on the foot. It also hurts to press on the specific area. I have not noticed any bruises, swelling or marks since the pain began. I haven't suffered any trauma to the foot. I was working out regularly, including jumping rope. I've tried jumping rope since, but it causes too much pain to keep up. I was also trying to break in some leather boots, which may have been putting stress on the feet. However, it's only the one foot that has any problem. I will probably go to the doctor next week if the pain is still here. Any ideas what is cause of this, and what I can do to fix the problem?

What is the cause of my top of foot pain? I have had this on and off foot pain for 2 weeks. The pain is there every morning, when I wake up and sometimes will continue throughout the day. I do not have the pain will resting my foot but it will happen while walking. The pain is located by my first and second toes, stretching up through the the top of my foot. Im a 14 year old basketball player and I have sore pain right behind the ball of my foot in my arch and along the big toe's bone ( not on the toe its self but along the top of my foot). Diagnosis on pain along the top of the foot? My dad has been experiencing some foot pain at the very top of his foot, in the joint where it connects with his leg. It is obviously swollen and a bit bruised. He says the pain goes away during his daily tasks, when he walks, or stands (applied pressure). But when he sits down and takes pressure off of his foot, it begins to throb with pain. "It feels like someone is just hitting it over and over with a hammer." Wondering About Top of Foot Pain? I have pain in the top of my foot that "floats" from the middle to the right, usually on the top. I think I pulled something playing baseball, but I'm strapped for time, so I'm trying to avoid being told by the doc to "stay off my feet". It hurts in the morning and late in the day, and yes, it is better if I stay off it. But I'm a manager of a convenience store, so I can't sit at my desk all day. But shouldn't the limp have gone away by now? Your thoughts?

Top the foot pain? I've been suffering for serveral months now from foot pain that is worse at night when I go to bed. My foot occasionally hurts during the day, but it hurts almost everynight. Sometimes the pain is so bad I cannot sleep and feel sick to my stomach. The pain goes away after I stand up and begin walking on it. The pain is located on the top of my right foot and sometimes radiates up my shin. Has anyone suffered from this type of pain? How did they fix it? Top of Foot Pain ? ? For the past 2-3 months I have been getting a sharp pain on the top of my foot. On the top of the arch area. It is a stabbing pain and hurts terrible, but just for about 10-15 seconds, then goes away. I get this pain about 10 times a day. Pain on top of foot with weightbearing? Has anyone had pain on the top of their foot, that only hurts when you put weight on it? I wore some new rubber boots that were tight on that foot and it hurt in that spot, but that was a week ago. Don't know whether it hurt already and that made it obvious or if the boots caused something. Trying to decide what to do. RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation)? or Dr.? Any experiences similar?

Top of foot pain? any ideas? please help! :]? So I have had this pain in my foot for a long time... about 5 months. Its is on my right foot and basically on my metatarsal (idk which one... basically by a bunch of them in a 'clump'. So when i lift my foot up it will hurt sometimes... more in the morning and night but throughout the day too. Burning Pain on top of my right foot that radiates to my ankle? I am having a burning pain on the top of my right foot. When I walk it gets worse and it radiates to right under my ankle. I also have a weird feeling in my foot when I bend my big toe up and down. It almost like my muscle is rubbing on my bone with no moisture. Does anyone anything about this or have you ever had anything like this? Does it have to do with my back?

Anyone have random deep stabbing pain in top foot? For the last 2 weeks, I've been getting random intermittent stabbing pains in my left foot. It is not related to what I'm doing. I can be standing, sitting, laying down, have shoes on, not have shoes on and it will hit. I'll get a series of stabs for about 10 minutes, and then it will go away for a while, and then it will return. Is this nerves? I am withdrawing from benzodiazepines so I don't know if it's withdraw. I also did take a Zoloft 2 weeks ago, but stopped it because thats what started this. Still 2 weeks later, it exists, and occasionally it will send some burning-like sensations to my toes. Any ideas? Just to add, I have no noticeable swelling, and no bruising. To Tom: like I said there are no bruises or noticeable swelling. I am 26, so the odds of it being cardio related are rare. I know because my father had this happen to him.

Developed pain in the top of my foot. No bruising, does not hurt to touch, just pain when walking. Help? When the pain in my heal went away (thank you for leaving you evil pain) My feet remained swollen for weeks, my ankles as well and I was on anti inflmatories... they didnt seem to help Then my wrists started to swell and I had pain in my hands. I got a cast on my foot because of an achilles tendon injury. I have severe pain on the top of my foot. Why? I don't know if it's because the cast is too tight (my toes aren't blue). My foot is pointed down. I've only had the cast on for about 36 hours. I've been taking Advil and Tylenol and it doesn't relieve the pain at all. I don't want to seem like a big baby, but this is hurting like crazy. I am about ready to go to the emergency room and have them cut it off.

Left foot pain along outside and top of foot? I have had problems with a pain in my foot for several years now. It runs along the outside of the foot, just below the little toe to just before the heel. I wear New Balance 926. Before these I wore the 925 style. They seemed to fix the issue, however, these updated ones (926) do not. I have had mortons neuroma and plantars fasciitis in both feet. If I wear any other kind of shoe, these problems will resurface. I have high arches and tend to walk on the outsides of my feet, which is why I wear New Balance. Recently I bumped the top of my foot on a corner of the deck stairs. Since then the pain in my foot has increased. When walking, it seems to hurt more when I take the weight off the foot. It also tends to ache. I have been to a doc and there are no broken bones. Over ten years ago I broke a bone--one of the metatarsals along the same side of the foot. The doc says there is no signs of arthritis. What is causing this pain and how can I get rid of it.

Foot pain on the top of my foot - hurts to wear shoes? I have pain on the top of my foot where the bone slightly sticks out from the rest of the surrounding area (between my toes and my ankle and more toward the inside of my foot on both feet). I've had this problem for as long as I can remember although it seems to get worse with time. The pain only happens when I'm wearing any kind of shoe that covers that part of my foot (sneakers, mary janes or any shoes with straps that cover that part of the foot, boots, lace-ups, etc.). Depending on the shoe, after about 30-90mins the bone is in INTENSE pain (as if someone or something is crushing the bone). Does anyone else experience this problem or has anyone gone to a podiatrist with this issue? When I visually compare my feet with other people that specific bone on the top of my foot doesn't seem ridiculously larger however it is slightly larger. Are some people just born with this bone slightly larger or should I have this checked out? Also-I'm pretty sure I have some form of flat feet... I do regularly loosen my laces-although sometimes I have to admit that they have to be pretty close to untied in order to avoid the pain. Thanks again in advance for everyone's answers.

Sprained Ankle - pain at top and bottom of foot?? Two weeks ago, I took my son to the er. Rolled his foot during soccer, heard a pop, and could not put any weight on it. ER took xray's of both ankles and could not determine a fracture so diagnosed sprain. He could limp around after a couple of days, got almost to correct walking within 4.... But the progress stops there. He now has pain on top of his foot going straight down to the bottom of his foot. Also has pain in the achillis?? area. His idiotic gym teacher is asking when he's going to start participating again since a "sprain" should only take a few days to heal and it's been 2 weeks. Any ideas?? I'm concerned since the pain is not in his ankle that he could have an undiagnosed fracture?? Weird is that it never turned blue or really swelled that badly. Was doing rice, but stopped after the swelling went down. Is still taking ibuprofen and is not doing his sports activities. I've got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. Hopefully we'll find out more then, but his goofy gym teacher needs to be smacked :) He's not complaining about a burning sensation. Also, hurts to touch the are still.

top of foot pain during pregnancy? I am 8 months pregnant. Over the last week the top of my foot has been hurting. I know that foot pain is common in pregnancy, especially during the last trimester, but I would think that it is more of an ankle or bottom of a foot pain that is common. Does anyone know why the top of my foot hurts, even to the touch? My boyfriend was looking at it last night and it looks a little swollen and if he even touched around the area it hurt very bad. I can not remember dropping anything on my foot or twisting it any any way. I have a doctors apt on Monday but I thought id see if anyone knew anything in the mean time.

PAIN IN TOP OF MY FOOT AFTER INJURY? I was recently in Greece playin beach volleyball and me and an opposition both jumped at the net and he landed on ' the soft spot' on the top/outside of my foot. Anyway about ten minutes late my foot had swollen up and turned dark so I put ice onto the area for about 20 minutes . It's now been about a week and I'm still getting pain and aching in my foot and also the bruising is still apparent. Is there anything more I can do? Thanks

Pain on top of foot after football? *a tour is a little over a lap* *indian sprints is when the team goes into a straight line and the last man in the back has to sprint up to the front and this repeats until the first person is in the back* *four corners is when you sprint the distance of a soccer field under a certain amount of time* Well today we wore full equipment and we ran a tour* in the beginning. We did stretches and went on to short sprints then long sprints and did about 10 each. Then we did up-downs which is when you run in place then when he blows the whistle fal and catch yourself and pop up. After that we got water and got back on the field to practice our positions. The O-line went with one coach and the the WRs and QBs are. Then we did Indian Sprints* after another tour. We have about 97 people on the team so that took maybe 5 tours. After this we did 4 corners* and had to do it like 3 times because of the slower kids not doing it in time. Then we had like 2 long sprints and headed in. Ever since my feet have been hurting. Has this happened to anyone and do you kow what to do and if you know what to do could you please help? I have never been a good runner and didnt exersize at all this summer The pain is on the top of the foot near the leg and hurts to position in certain places and jumping and I have a sort of limp in my walk

What would cause my partners big toes to turn up, pain in the area of her feet accross the base of the toes ? She also has pain on her feet accross the top of her feet at the base of her toes. When she tries to wear new shoes the pain also shoots up the back of her calfs and into her neck. The pediatrist's that she has seen over the years suggest that she is imagining the pain and that there is nothing wrong with her feet. They are wrong!!!

Pain on top of foot (by toes) when i put pressure on it. any ideas whats wrong? I first got the pain a week a go after stepping off a piece of wood. i didn't jump just stepped off about 15cm onto concrete ground. after this it was really hard to walk and i limped inside and sat down immediately the pain was almost gone, when i got up to walk again it was back! How can I ease nerve pain on the top of my foot and the plantar fasciitis? I had a nerve test done and the conclusion was inflammation of the nerves and plantar fasciitis. How can I relieve the pain on the top of my foot? It is very sensitive to touch and if my foot rolls up at all it is very painful. I definitely have plantar fasciitis pain as well which responds to the stretching, ice and massage.

Can someone please tell me why I feel this pain on the top of my right foot? Somehow I injured the top of my right foot when I stomped it on the ground--like a stepping action. There was like a brief shock of pain on my whole right foot, and then the next day when I got out of bed and stepped down, I felt the pain. I have pain on the top part of my foot, what is it? Hey im 16 years old and Ive been getting some bad footpain when i run lately. The pain just happens when I run, and afterwards it hurts when I walk. I stopped running for a week and the pain stopped. I started running gain and the pain came back. Its in the top part of my foot. I stars above the big toe nail bone and goes along the top part of the metarsals of my left foot. Theres no swelling or bruising. When I put on ice right after running, it makes it hurt worst.If i just touch my foot it doesnt hurt at all. I would appreciate if someone helped me.

I got up earlier this evening from watching television and when I stood up I got a sharp pain on the top of my foot slightly above my ankle on my right foot( when I looked online they call the area Superior extensor retinaculum ,which is my best way to target the area). Lump on top of foot.? I have a hard boney lump on the top of my left foot pretty close to my big toe. It hurts to bend the toe and it hurts to wear closed toed shoes. Cause of ankle/top of foot pain? Background: I've been running for about two years now, and up until recently it was nothing big, just 2.5 miles or 3 miles if I felt ambitious. Now, however, I am training for a marathon. Right now, the only other sport I participate in is dance, but I am doing tennis for my fourth year in the spring. I have sprained my ankle before, moderately. It has been nearly four years since, though I've had bad bouts with it twice since (the most recent being last year). I have running shoes that are on their way (in the mail), but have been running on some second gen. kmart shoes in the meantime (bad, bad - I know!). Problem: In about my third (nearly fourth) week of training, the top of my right foot began to feel sore. At first, it was very mild, and only at the beginning and the end of running. Gradually, the pain seemed to appear in my ankle as well. Now, nearly into my fifth week, I can feel my ankle throb even when I am not engaged in an activity, and the top of my foot experiences sharp pain when I try to put on boots. It doesn't hurt when pressed from the top and bottom, but from the sides, I am in a great deal of pain. I do not feel the pain while running, only during walking. My foot is warm to the touch. Pain on top of foot ? I suffered a stress fracture about 3 months ago while dancing. The frequency and intensity of my practices has really increased alot. I feel pain on the top of my foot, right next to where the fracture was, but only when I press on it. I can walk and run fine, but it hurts when I press on it. pain in top of foot. help!? I have this pain in the top of my foot, about an inch back from my big toe and half an inch to the right. Extreme pain on top of the foot...? Hi, So last Monday as in the 11th I had an intense basketball workout. After it I was feeling fine but the next morning I had extreme pain on the top of my foot. I though maybe I slept on it wrong but it still is hurting as much if not more. There is no swelling on the foot at all it looks the same as my other one. I have no recollection of any cause of the pain like a rolled ankle or anything it was just really sore the next day and still is. The pain is extremely intensified if I walk on it or jump. What is causing the pain in the top of my foot? After leaving the Gym on Friday I noticed a pain on the left side on the top of my right foot. Over the weekend I had a lot to do so I was unable to stay off it and it has gotten much worse. If it continues to hurt for a couple more days I will have it looked at. What could cause a pain on the top of my foot from the small toe back to the ankle area? I have not injured my foot yet the pain is extruciating on the top of my foot . I am very familiar with plantar faciatus and this is not that problem. Top of foot pain: broken or something else? I am 19 and fell at the beach today and the top of my foot hurt a lot for about and hour or so. Is getting a tattoo on the top of your foot like getting one on your spine pain wise? I have a tat covering my whole lower back and I was wondering if the pain is comparable because they are both bone. When they went over my spine it didn't hurt at all it actually felt pretty good (I know I'm strange lol), but it hurt more where there is more skin. Pain on top of foot with very very minor ankle fracture.. Help? Ok, so a week and a half ago I broke my ankle. It was the tiniest little fracture there could be and the Dr said they are gonna treat it like a sprain. However, they still put me in a freaking cast! Well, 5 days later I attempted my first shower (gross, I know!) and did everything they told me to do but STILL got the inside wet. So I had to have it taken off at the ER cause it was a friday night. They put me in a walking boot and said Monday morning, call to get a new cast. Well when they were cutting the wet one the lady said "OMG they double casted it! They NEVER do that! Can't believe it especially how small it was!" I was just like, great... Anywho, the Walking boot is magnificent!!! I can actually get around, do things, and it doesn't hurt one bit! Well except when I take it off to give my leg a breather. If I leave it off for more than 10 minutes, my entire flipping foot cramps up and is hard to walk on. Even with the boot. So... Before I go whining to my doctor and they throw another freaking cast on me, (which I am avoiding anyway.... hence no Cast today-its monday- especially since they were "going to be treating it as a sprain" I think they went overboard on treatment if you ask me!) What on earth is causing this? Inactivity too much activity? Just me being hurt? Its more painful than the stupid break! But it DOES go away after a little while.

Pain on top of my foot when walking? I have a pain o top of my foot when I walk, to be precise, when I bring my foot forward while walking. It doesn't hurt to move my ankle or move my foot in a downwards motion, but when in try and move my toes/foot upwards it is really painful. Top of Foot Pain (central part)? It started three weeks ago after playing football when someone caught the top of my foot (central part) with their studs. Why does the top of my foot hurt? While walking today in low heeled boots, an area on the top of my right foot suddenly started to hurt. After arriving home and resting my foot for a few hours, I am still experiencing pain from the top of my foot. It is not swollen or bruised in anyway. However, it is quite painful to flex my foot and walk on it, and if I press down heavily on the area I can feel some pain. The pain is centred around an area underneath the big toe and second toe, roughly midway down the flat surface of the top of the foot.

top of foot pain in left foot? I have pain in the top of my left foot including throbbing pain in my big toe and pain down the side of my big toe to the bone connecting it. recently started running - top of foot pain? Hi. I recently got a treadmill two weeks ago or so and was running about five miles a day on it, and it was cool. However, I now have pain on the top of my left foot, sort of where it angles. I was about to go on the treadmill anyway but it really doesn't feel that great landing on it. I decided not to use it just in case I was going to put back the recovery time. So, I was just wondering if anyone knew what this is, how long it takes to recover, whether it is ok for me to run despite the pain or should I avoid? Thanks

Foot pain on top of my right foot...? Any advice would be helpful.This week I started to get the sharp pain when I walk or try to bend my foot. The pain is located on top of my foot (mid-foot) and there is some swelling. There is no black or blue anywhere on my foot. About two weeks ago I tripped while walking and my foot hit a loose brick on the sidewalk...the pain didn't start until a week later. I also take Boot Camp classes every week and it started to hurt the day after my class. I have been looking online and there are many things that could be wrong. Does this sound like a Lisfranc injury or just a possible strain. I can't walk without limping and I certainly can't run. I took 4 days off from working out and it still isn't any better. It actually hurts more this week than last. I can't get into a doctor for another week...which is why I am writing on here for any advice. Thank you. It also at times feels like my foot needs be cracked badly.

I tripped and fell and hit the top and side of my foot four days ago. I have under skin blueness and swelling? I can put my weight on my foot, but have pain on top of foot occasionally. should I try Ace bandage and heat soaks now to diminish the swelling and blueness.
