causes of foot arch pain Knowledge Base
What causes a burning stabbing pain on the arch of your foot? About 3 months ago I started to experience a burning pain on the bottom of my foot by my arch which would radiate up to the side of the inside of my foot. I have to wear safety shoes at work. I also started hitting my tread mill pretty hard, trying to lose weight.
How can I stop the pain in the arch of my foot? I have a high arch in my feet, and it causes a lot of pain in my feet lately when I walk more then a few blocks. It is especially painful in my right foot. Is there anything I can do to help ease the pain?
severe back, knee and foot arch pain? My grandpa, who is 83 has been having terrible pain in his back, knees and arch of his foot, he can hardly walk, and I don't know what to do, i'm planning on taking him to the doctor on Monday morning, but in the mean time what can I do to help him? What are some causes of this type of pain? He may have pulled a muscle, but has not fallen.
What is causing this pain in the arch of my left foot ? Yesterday at noon, I ran 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by bicylcing for 15 minutes. Later in the afternoon around 4 or 5, I started feeling pain in the arch of my left foot. I think the pain increased while I was sitting on thr chair doing my homework for 3-4 hours. Today when I woke up, I still have the pain in the same location. Should I be worried ? Is it something serious?
What to do if I have pain in the arch of my foot? A little over a week ago, the arch of my left foot has started to ache and cause pain when I walk, run, or stand for long periods of time. I have never felt this sensation before; could it be a "fallen arch". I have just wrapped up a track season so could that have something to do with it? I'm pretty sure the type of shoes I wear don't have anything to do with it. Any suggestions on what it is and what I can do about it?
Foot arch pain..Sort of..? What could it be? To start off, the pain is located in my right foot. Click the below link. The area in red is the approximate area of pain. http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h232/Kurdt-Kobain/?action=view¤t=Foot.jpg This pain occurs randomly ranging from three times a week to once a month. In the area indicated, I get a SEVERE sharp pain. I cannot move my toes at all. Doing so results in the pain getting worse. These spasms last anywhere from two minutes to fifteen. The sharp pain only occurs in the right foot and in the specified area. I have not yet seen a doctor, I haven't found the need to. This has been happening to me a lot lately. I remember having this pain occasionally when I was younger, but never so severe and horrible. I have found no link to my daily activities and the foot pain. It happens when I have been laying down, walking around, etc. Basically random. Anybody have a clue what this could be or what could be causing this pain? Help appreciated. I have searched online, but none of the foot disorders or pain matched my criteria. I know you are not all foot doctors and don't expect you to act so. Don't bother telling me to see a doctor. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be asking you, now would I. ^.^ Well my feet are almost always noticeably cold, even in the summer. Perhaps this has something to do with the pain. I don't think acetimenophine or ibuprofen will help me here. A pinched nerve, perhaps.
Can having heel spur cause other foot pain, besides the heel? Have had two cortizone injections, that worked ok. Now I have just a little heel pain, however, the top of my foot and the arches of my foot are very painful. Especially 1st thing in the morning. And if I spend too much time on my feet, like housecleaning, etc. my foot kills me even worse for several days. Or even running around the yard with the dog, if it twists funny causes severe pain. Help this is really upsetting my life.
Foot Arch pain in ice skates? So, whenever I go skating, after skating for a bit the arch of my foot begins to seriously hurt, or probably inflammation occurs. I usually have my skates really tight cause that is how I personally like them, but I have the middle of the lacing where the pain is looser, but the pain still occurs. I think the skates are too narrow for my feet. I believe my feet are quite wide. Am I tieing it wrong, or do I have a foot problem? Or do I just need my own personal skates other than the rink rentals. i dun skate fairly often so thats why i never purchased a pair.
Pain in the arch of only my left foot after a day of walking? After a long day of walking, the arch of ONLY my left foot is painful. This happens after any exercise that's out of regular walking during the day (after the gym, after a full day walking around at the zoo or park, etc.). My right foot is never effected, nor my knees, ankles or hips. What could be the cause of the pain?
Is this Plantar Flascitis? Arch pain in foot.? I havnt ran in about a year - and yesterday I decided to start running again because in a few months I start boot camp. I bought pair of new running shoes and went out for a mile or so run. My calves began to cramp up really bad so I decided to walk the rest of the way back. My calves are now very tight this day after the run. Also, the arch on the bottom of my left foot is kinda painful and tender but I have no pain in my heel. I read somewhere that pressing hard with your thumb in the middle of your heel would help diagnose if this is indeed PF or just arch pain. I pressed firmly in the middle bottom of my heel and have no pain. Could the pain be caused from the new running shoes - or because I am not used to running - or because of my tight calves? Or is it very probable that I have PLantar's? I have boot camp in a couple months... I need to get ready. Any advice? Suggestions? thanks!
What causes pain in big toe ball? Started 2 days ago as pain in foot arch , could barely walk on getting out of bed. NOT caused by injury. pain diminished as hours passed . yesterday quite bearable. This a.m. pian bad on left big toe ball, less when standing, real bad when no weight on it?
what is causing my foot pain? I have been feeling a sharp pain in the outer arch of my right foot for the past week. It really hurts when i wear flip flops and/or if I put a lot of pressure on it. I didn't fall or strain it in any way. Does anyone know what's causing this?
What would cause pain in the arch of my left foot on the pinky toe side? I went shopping the weekend before last and wore a pair of sandals that were not very cushioning. They were pretty solid....bad idea, I know. The next day, my feet were pretty sore. A week later, the rest of my feet feel fine, but on my left foot's arch, toward the pinky toe side it is very sore and hard to walk on. When I flex my foot, it feels "creaky" on that spot, like there is grissel between bones or something. Any idea what this might be? Somone suggested bone spurs, but I don't think it would develop that fast from 1 day of walking with bad shoes. Any opinions are appreciated! Thanks, but the pain is more towards the heal, not right at the base of the pinky. Any other suggestions?
What is causing pain along the TOP of my foot? I have pain up the top of my foot, from ankle area down to the toes. My shoes are not too tight and my arch seems OK, any ideas what could be causing this? Most site concentrate on the bottom of the foot pain.

Stabbing pain in the arch of my foot towards my heel? Around 2:00 today I started getting a stabbing pain in the arch of my right foot. The pain is in my arch close to my heel. It has slowly gotten worse since 2:00 and at this point it hurts to walk on it and even move my foot around. I don't think I injured my foot in anyway this pain just kind of appeared. Anyone know what could be causing this pain? What can I do to help the pain? The pain is getting worse and worse. I can't even apply pressure to my heel anymore without being in a lot of pain.
Knee pain due to arch of the foot? I'm in track and since we started practicing I've noticed that my right knee really hurts. Well I went to the trainer and he told me when I step on the ground the arch of my foot disappears, causing my knee to move different and therefore the pain that I feel comes from my bones rubbing against each other. He told me to buy special orthotics designed for the arch of my foot and I did. However the pain is still there and it is getting stronger and stronger with each day. Do you any have suggestions on how to make my knee not hurt anymore? Thank you
Can bindings be the cause of foot pain? So when im boarding, i occasionally get cramps and pain on the outside arches of my feet. The only way to relieve this is to stop, unstrap and wait and if its really bad, loosen boots and flex my foot. But it comes back almost immediately once i start going again. I have a pair of 32 lashed boots size 9. Could my Burton freestyle's be causing this problem in any way? If you have any other ideas as to why this is happening and any solutions, i would love to hear them. thanks
Foot arch and ankle pain???? Need help....? Ok, I do have very low arches and I think I may under pronate. For the past 8 months or so the inside upper arch and area just below my inside ankle have greatly pained me after any sort of high active movement (running, playing sports). I then will go to sit down and the pain will go away but the second I put my weight back on my feet, that whole area screams in response, causing me to often times limp. The pain is primarily in my right foot but sometimes journeys over to my left. Note: I also have somewhat poor circulation in my feet (not crippling, not RSD, my feet are just always cold and sometimes have a very light hint of purple around the first or upper joints of my toes.) Any recommendations???? I am soon going to get insoles for my shoes to better support my arches in every day activities and am going to wear Asics running shoes for the exercising and running. I am not overweight or obese, infact, at the age of 14, I weigh just 91 pounds.
I have a high arch in my right foot that causes knee pains when I run long distances, what can I do? I want to get back into running, but the problem is I have a high arch in my right foot. A long time ago when I identified the problem I went to a foot doctor because my knee pains were getting really bad, and he told me I needed an insert in my gym shoes. So I had him order a custom one for my foot, and it royally sucked. So since I've already tried using an insert and that got me no where, is there any other alternatives? Like I'm sure that I'm not the only person who has this problem. I mean of all the hundreds of thousands of people that enter the military, someone has had to go through this experience and find a solution haha (I'm not going to the military, I just figured that since they run all day long that people there would run into this problem the most) I already did that, the insert kept moving around in my shoe. It was custom made for my foot using a cast. Running with it proved impossible.
I have an intense shooting pain in the arch of my foot? The pain just began a few days ago and seems to be shooting upward through the arch on my left foot. I've heard people say it may be a tight muscle and to stretch it and it'll go away. It feels to me like it is getting worse. The pain now goes about 4 inches above my ankle. I'm not overweight and can't think of much I've done differently that could've caused this. any ideas?
Would Shoes a little too big cause a pain in the arch of my foot? I bought some new shoes today from a store specializing in running shoes where they find shoes to meet the specifications of your foot perfectly. Well i bought a pair of shoes and i went for a quick run and it seemed like my foot wasn't on the arch of the shoe correctly so it kept ramming into the bottom of my foot. The Shoes feel tight enough in the front but the heels seem a little loose. I'm thinking my foot is sliding up a little bit so it's throwing everything off, what do you think?
What is causing the severe pain in my foot? I have been experiencing severe pain in my foot. Mainly in the arch and on the heel of the foot. Its like a burnig and stinging pain. The past few days when I wake up in the morning I can barely walk on the foot. The pain is getting so severe that I am actually starting to walk on the side of my foot just to keep the pressure off the foot. Any ideas what this could be?
Arch pain...cause&treatment? Over the summer for about 2 weeks I had arch pain. Its right in the middle of the arch in my foot, and is a little worse when I walk, but it will still mildly hurt even if I'm sitting or laying down. I assumed it was because I was working a lot "I'm a hostess" and got inserts for my shoes. They helped a little bit. Now the arch pain is back. (In my right foot) and I'm not working very much or on my feet a lot so I'm not sure the cause, and I don't know what do do, since inserts didn't work&neither did shoes with good arch support.
Pain in foot arches- bad shoes (not trainers)? I have never had very bad arch problems before, but since this weekend mine have been hurting off and on... wondering if this is where the famed "Achilles tendon" is??? I average 34-36 miles a week lately, and this week I'm upping the mileage a bit. I have arch support in my trainers b/c it was thought that my low arches were causing my (now non-problematic) shin pain. So wearing those helps, its just every other time. Only poss. causes I can think of are upping mileage, maybe also b/c on Saturday I spent about 8 hrs. standing, in old shoes with worn-out soles (I needed to wear a certain style for this culinary explorers thing I went to, basically 8 hrs in class). I'm hoping its just the shoes, but its odd that I'm still hurting on Tuesday night, when it was Saturday that I stood around in the bad shoes... anyone else have this happen?
Pain around the arch of my right foot? For the last few days everytime I've taken a step, I've been feeling this tearing sensation in the arch of my right foot and it's feels like it's getting worse. The best way to describe the feeling is like something inside my foot is stretching too much near tearing point, it almost feels like somehow is stabbing a knife through my foot. What's causing this, is it serious, should I see a doctor, or is it just a small thing that'll go away?
Can anybody tell me what could be the cause of my foot pain? I have had a lot of pain in my right foot for about 6 months which has gotten progressively worse. Its mostly in my inner arch...but its also painful on top of my foot and my ankle. I haven't had any injuries related to my foot either. It even hurts when I walk..and it even hurts when its at rest. What could it be?
Does anyone know what could be causing pains in my foot and upper leg? I have a weird pain in the arch of my right foot and at the joint of my hip and thigh. It feels almost like a pulled muscle or something, but I have no idea what it causing it. I've been doing a lot more walking lately in the past month, but other than that I've had no major changes in activity or exercise, so I don't know what could be causing this pain in both places. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Why do I have pain in the arch of my foot when I am running? Lately, whenever I run (be it outside, or on the treadmill), the arch of my foot gives me a lot of pain - enough for me to stop before I am tired. Specifically, the pain is on the bottom of my foot, in the area between the heel and the ball. It's almost as if there is a smooth rock between my insole and the arch of my foot that's causing pressure, and eventually a painful burning sensation. My first thought was that my shoes were simply not designed for running, so I drove over to my local footwear store and bought a pair of running shoes. Although the rest of my foot is comfortable, the pain is still there. I spoke to a doctor about my problem, and he seemed puzzled as well. He made no mention of, "Flat-feet", which I had a hunch might be the problem, and he simply suggested that I run at a slower pace (thanks, doc...). Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how did you overcome the pain? Thanks in advance for your answers!
What is the causing the sharp, stabbing pain in the arch of my foot? I use a bike at the gym today and afterward tried to jump rope. After about 5 jumps I felt something sharp stabbing me like it was from inside my shoes or socks. The pain is very centralized in a 1 inch on the bottom of my foot in the middle of the arch. I looked in my shoes and didn't find anything so started to jump again. Another 5 jumps and the stabbing pain started up. Since then I get the same sensation from walking or running but it only debilitatingly painful while jumping. I have no pain in my heel and it isn't any better or worse during time of day so I'm iffy on plantar fasciitis. The pain mainly seems to be around the flexor digitorum longus tendon. Applying resistance on my toes produces no pain so I'm also iffy on flexor tendinitis. I also went running 3 days ago and tried to run more on the balls of my feet than the heel...I had no pain until trying to jump rope.
What is causing this arch pain in a ballet dancer? Hello. I'm 16 years old and I've been dancing since I was 2. I took the summer off and came back to dancing right away with pointe, classes, long rehearsals and also long hours for drill team. I've been experiencing pain in the arch of my right foot. It varies but the best way to describe it is if i walk alot or jump or do any kind of motion where my toes bend backwards repeatedly, my arch starts to feel tight and sometimes like there's a ball or knot inside of it. If I ignore the pain and continue to dance, after several minutes I will land a jump or something like that and it will feel like my arch is RIPPING and this is proceeded by a burning feeling in my arch as well. I really love to dance and do not want this injury to limit my ability so any help is greatly appreciated. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could possibly be? Thank you all very much!
I have a pain in the arch of my foot? when i do sports that include runnning i experience a pain in my arch. i have heard of plantar fac. but i am not sure if it is that the pain feels like something in my arch poped and then there is a rush of hot pain and it happens several times and almost causes me to stop playing.
What is causing my foot pain? I've been experiencing pain along the top of my left foot especially on the medial arch side. It’s been about a month, and it only seems to be getting worse. No arch, heel, or toe pain. No swelling or bruising. No specific injury to that foot. Hurts when I walk and run, however the pain is bearable. Sometimes it will ache even when I’m resting. Does anyone know what this could be or have experienced similar symptoms? I don’t want to go to the doctor if there is something I can do at home to help! I’ve tried ice and ibuprofen. I also bought insoles for my shoes but no change. Thanks so much!
What is the cause of foot pain on the bottom, outside part of my foot? Every single time I throw on some sneakers and go running or even sometimes swimming or even if I just walk around, my feet kill. I feel like it should be tendinitis but that's supposed to happen to the inside part of the foot in the arch, not the outside. I have flat feet and that might be the problem, but I already wear orthotics. Its pretty moderate pain, probably a 7 on a scale of 10. Every time it happens I can't even run anymore; I have to stop and just sit for like 40 minutes until it goes away. Any ideas of what this could be? Should I go see my podiatrist?
How can I stop my feet arch from hurting? My feet arch hurt really bad after standing for a couple hours in one position. I work at the MN state fair taking admission tickets. I cant sit down or walk around. I do get breaks. I have flat feet and only my arches hurt because the arch of the shoe is pushing into my foot causing pain. my ankles and legs and rest of my feet are fine. I have insoles and they dont really help much at all. is there something that i can do while standing? like stretching my legs or messing around with my feet or something.
Ways to ease pain of a torn Plantar Fascitis? (Arch of foot)? I just found out what is causing this awful pain but it doesn't seem that there are too many ways to ease it. Hopefully someone out here will have some advice!! I am a chronic pain patient so I cannot take any medication outside of what I am already on.
High foot arch and muscle cramps in arch for no appernt reason? my foot arch is very high and unbroken. so its not caused by a broken down arch. but i some times i bend my foot or toes and i'll get a sharp pain (and a lump of swelling i guess) for a few minuets in my arch region. what is it caused by? and does anyone else get it? and is there anyway to make it go away or prevent it?
What can cause pain on the outside edge of the foot? It started when I was walking a long distance in flip flops. The outside edge of my right foot began to hurt when walking and standing flat. It is a sharp pain that is located right before my heel begins. I'm worried that it could possibly be a fallen arch or something. Any help is greatly appreciated.
What could be causing my foot pain? About 4 days ago my right foot began hurting only when I walked/put my body weight on it. The pain is on the outside pretty much centered on the length of my foot. I noticed a small bump there, but I checked my other foot and had the same bump, although the one that hurts may have been a little bigger. I don't remember doing anything that would cause injury, it just started hurting. I think one of the main problems is that I haven't really had a chance to stay off of it. Yesterday I had to do quite a bit of walking and the inside of the same foot began hurting as well (on the side at the arch just before the heel) and I noticed it was swollen. It got to the point where I couldn't walk on it at all and now both sides are swollen and the outside still hurts mainly when I walk or put pressure on it, but a little even when i'm sitting. I'll go to the doctor if it doesn't get better, but in the meantime anyone have any suggestions of what may be wrong/how to stop the pain?
Foot pain caused by shoes? So, about 2 months ago I got these shoes that are like slip on shoes/sandal things. They are usually beige and suede. Anyway, when I bought them they were tight but was told they would stretch out. A month after they were streched and what i would do is just wear them everyday, all day because they went with every outfit I had. It was really nice. Anyway, In the morning when i wore them they would be fine, but then halfway through the day a sharp pain would start in the bottom of my foot. It is right in the middle, by the arch. But it would only hurt if I walked. Also it is in only one foot. When I did walk outside(which is where I walk fast) the pain would happen again. So what I would do is walk to school in old shoes I had and change at school and then when I walked home I would change them . So today I didn;t wear them at all and was again fine in the morning and throughout the day they were fine but after I got home after my walk after school it hurt! And now I am putting ice on it and trying to figure out what is wrong! I am 15 years old and im not going ot the doctor for this. My friend said she had it and just but ice on it and did streches, but I was wondering if anyone else knows what it is and what to do? Also, I cross my legs in almost everyclass on only one side so I was wondering if that causes a problem.
Any idea what could be causing my leg and foot pain? I started running last week (after about a month off). I ran for 3 days in a row and then started getting calf cramps the 4th day. By the 5th day the cramps were so bad and shooting through my whole left leg, I was convinced I had torn a muscle or somehow injured myself. I started taking Darvocet that I had left over from an old injury and decided not to go to the ER. It is now day 6 of being in the worst pain of my life and it is not subsiding after stretching, massage, rest, and heat. The pain has also moved up into my hamstrings and down into the arch of my foot. I have had fallen arches for 9 years now. Maybe this is causing the problem? The pain is unbearable. I can barely walk and it hurts to sit or stand for any period of time. Sleeping is impossible w/out pain killers and I am struggling at work. I am exhausted from being in pain. I saw an internist yesterday and she did not believe I was in the amount of pain I described nor did she do anything to help me. She did an ultrasound of my leg to look for blood clots, but that is it. What could be causing this? What can I do to get the pain to subside? I am seeing a podiatrist tomorrow, but I am worried he will not be able to help me either. I am frustrated and don't know what to do or where to go for help. I feel like my life is being consumed by pain.
Cause of Hip and Foot Pain? Just curious if anyone knows what this is. Lately I've been having problems with my right leg. It starts with my foot hurting when using it(sometimes even just doing normal everyday chores will start the pain lately). Today though my hip also started to hurt. The pain in my foot is just achy and sore, especially around the arch. The pain in my hip is a sharp stabbing one when walking. My foot also seems a bit swollen(not very much though). There has been no injury to either my foot or hip. Can anyone give me ideas as to what this may be and ways to alleviate the pain so I can get back to my normal routine? My arches are actually low compared to my husband's. He also said it felt like my right one was slightly lower then my left.
Question about foot pain from being on feet all day? Im on my feet 12 hours+ a day at work. I wear new balance running shoes which have been fine up until recently. My left foot feels like Im standing completely on the arch of my foot and my heel is kinda numb at the end of the day around the edges? Any ideas whats going on here or what might be causing this?
Anyone know good shoe inserts for foot pain? Ok, My feet hurt extremely bad, aching, sore, all of that. I wear about three to four different types of shoes daily. Non-Slip shoes for work, slip ons to go out, sandals, and running shoes. The sandals and slip ons don't have much arch support which i heard can be a cause of foot pain. Anyone recommend any good products such as gel padding, foot inserts, etc? I looked things up but alot of gel pads are 20-30 dollars I don't want to spend alot of money on a product that won't help.. Thanks, :)
I have major pain in the arch of my foot and under the outer ankle bone...what's going on? Yesterday I participated in a scavenger hunt and ran/walked 6 miles. BUT I wore my old converse and started getting blisters on my feet, which in turn caused me to start walking/running funny. Now, my foot hurts REALLY, REALLY bad. It hurts at the front inside kind of top or front of the arch and also on the outer foot directly under neath the ankle bone. It hurts when I walk on it really bad, not so much when I am sitting. I put a pair of Nikes on with support, which allows me to walk around with less pain, but it's still very painful. I'm wondering what I should do? I'm a college student and I don't have insurance for 3 more weeks....... I don't think it is a heel bruise...it doesn't fit the description as it hurt towards the front of my foot as well.....
Foot (Arch) Burning Pain - What's the cause? I have a burning pain in the arch of my left foot. I've had it for the last 8 months. 3 months ago I went to the doctor who suggested inserts. Didn't help. Doc is clueless as to what the pain is being caused from. It feels like a muscle is being stretched to the point of causing a burning sensation. It happens very inconsistently. It happens if I am standing or sitting or laying down. I have no clue what brings on the pain. So I am desperately hoping that someone on here might know what the problem might be and how I can fix it. Pain meds do not help. According to my doctor, I have very high arches but seemed impressed that all my toes touch the ground when I am standing. (not sure if that information is helpful or not).
Really bad cramps in the arch of my foot? So I will occasionally get horrible cramps in the bottom side of my foot (in the arch and extends to my toes). It is so painful that I have to stop everything I'm doing. Also, my toes will dislocate when the cramps happen and when I pop them back in, the pain subsides. What causes this and what stretches can I do to help it? Thanks so much!
Really bad pain in my foot arch? What causes that? it normally is just moments of it and then it goes away then comes back in like 2-3 weeks... I do cheer (3days a week, 2hrs a day) and dance (5days a week,2 hrs a day); I dont know what causes it. Its just sudden outbursts. THXX.
Pain in Calf Muscle and Arch of Foot? Today I noticed a pinching-like pain in the back of my calf, and also in the arch of my foot on the same side (left). It hurts to walk, and hurts whenever I straighten my leg especially. What can I do for this, and what could be causing it? Should I be worried? I have not exercised recently, so I couldn't have pulled something. In fact I have been very sedentary lately. Thanks for your help.
How can i get rid of arch pain today? cant even walk.? Is there any way to get rid of this pain I'm getting in the arch of my foot? It hurts so bad I can't even walk.. I just started getting this last night after getting back from a car show where the ground was uneven and the were a number of big rocks I steped on by accident. Could that have cause this? Well I just need to get rid of it because I have to go to work at 4 today and I can't even walk..
Throbbing pain throughout foot, causes and cures? I've had a strange sensation on the bottom of my foot for a few days now, kind of like a throbbing inner pain that comes and goes. It seems to move around between the heel, arch, and sole of my foot (or any combination at the same time), and sometimes it gets so strong I feel it up my lower leg and knee. It hurts more when I'm resting and not moving around, the position my legs/feet are in doesn't seem to matter. It doesn't always hurt when I'm moving/walking, but it sometimes feels like a really strong cramping sensation. I can move my foot and touch it/bend it without any pain. It doesn't seem to have any correlation to how much I stand/sit or exercise. Painkillers, stretching, and soaking it aren't helping. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of the pain or what might be causing it?
What could be causing arch pain? Is it plantar fasciitis? It started gradually in the right foot on the inside of the arch (more towards the heel, but definitely still the arch). It was first a dull pain when I was driving. Now it wakes me up at night because it hurts so bad, or I'll get a shooting pain during the day. I'm active, 28, not overweight, female, and a teacher, so I am on my feet a bit. I never wear heels to work. When I work out, I normally use the arc trainer, which is almost no impact. The pain is starting to creep up the side/front of my ankle. I originally researched and thought it was plantar fasciitis, but I've been reading more about that condition causing heel pain, not arch pain. I made an appointment with a podiatrist, but I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this. It's starting to interfere with my life.
What's causing my foot pain during exercise, and how can I prevent it? For about five or six years now, I've experienced extreme exhaustion and pain on the outside of my right foot, in particular during high-impact exercise. I don't live a particularly inactive lifestyle, and I love doing cardio, so this is kind of becoming more serious. I have relatively high arches and I've been using Z-CoiL shoes for the past couple of years to try and ease the pain. It's helped everywhere else, but the outside arch of my right foot just won't be satisfied. It's gotten to the point now where elliptical machines cause pain and I can't finish my aerobics classes because it's just too much to bear now. Even just walking around has the potential to be a nightmare. I have an appointment with my podiatrist, but she's unable to see me for a couple of months. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? I don't want to be a couch potato. :( I've considered breaking out my whole athletics first aid kit and wrapping the hell out of that foot, but will that actually accomplish anything, or will it make it worse?
pain in arch, ball of feet. high arch? For years now I have known that I have had high arches (more in my right foot causing me to put weight on the outside of my foot) and it is starting to become a bigger issue. I have been more active lately and have really felt the pain. I have had orthotics for some time now and I feel they have done nothing except cause a burning sensation after wearing them all day especially at the balls of my feet. I actually feel slightly less pain when I DONT wear them. I am curious to know if anyone may some some suggestions on what to do to besides surgery (since I know it isn't an extreme case of high arches). Does anyone recommend a certain type of shoe? Are there exercises/stretches that I can do? What has worked for those who suffer the same as me?
Lump on foot and BAD pain!!!? Okay so I have this small lump under the skin of my heel. It's pipe-like, almost as if someone cut off the end of a little pipe and stuck it in my foot. It's a long and skinny lump, not very visible but you can feel it! It is causing pain to the arch of my foot to the top right below the toes! It almost feels as if I have a constant foot cramp! Help!
Symes Prothesis for walking with paralyzed foot causes a LOT of pain---Do they ALWAYS cause PAIN (as told)? The persons who fitted my friend's Symes 'boot' (as she calls it) told her that ALL of them cause a lot of pain. Is this true? She spoke to someone at a hospital about remolding it for her, and they said they would mold it for her higher arch (or whatever her foot shape needs), but that they were afraid that they might ruin it in the process, so wouldn't try. This lady REALLY LIKEs to walk, *except for the pain from wearing her Symes prosthesis*. She had an aneurysm (which caused about 95% {my estimate] paralysis on one side of her body), and REALLY needs to exercise regularly! She prefers swimming, but has no access to a pool, which makes her being able to walk regularly even more important! Any realistic & helpful information about what she might be able to do about this problem, will be *greatly* appreciated! She lives on SSI alone, so hasn't enough money to risk ruining her prosthesis, but does anyone know who / what type of service provider might be willing to work on it for her, whose work is insured? (She lives in Montrose, CO if that helps.) Or, could she take out some kind of insurance on it herself, before having it worked on, & for the purpose of providing for a replacement if that should become necessary? Shouldn't the device simply hold her toes up, withOUT pain? She says that she can walk a lot longer while wearing it (than not), but it is so painful that she cannot enjoy it. Thank You for useful information, and we will read any personal experiences shared as well. She is not an amputee---She has her foot. It is just paralyzed & numb, so that she needs to wear something that will hold her toes up while she walks. This 'thing' she wears in her shoe, between her foot & the shoe. She didn't remember the name of it, so I tried to look it up & found this name. When I asked if this was it, she said 'yes', but now I wonder whether it really is the right name for what she has.
Is my knee pain related to my foot/arch? Over the last few weeks I've been getting intermittent knee pain - a sort of burning/aching around the back of my right knee - it comes and goes and it much worse when I walk barefoot - but it's been getting gradually worse. I've just bought a pair of new shoes and while the left one is fine, I keep feeling with the right one that I want to sort of walk just on the outside of my foot and tip my foot outwards. I've been using crutches on and off for about a year after breaking my pelvis on my right hand side. I thought it might be something to do with fallen arches, but if anything the arch on my right foot is higher and more arched than the one on my left foot. Is is likely/possible that using crutches for so long has changed the muscles in my right foot and it's only since I've gone down to using one crutch and now no crutches that I've noticed it and it;s the changes in my foot that are causing my knee pain? Can anyone offer advice? thanks
Sharp pain in the arch of my foot? This morning when I woke up the bottom part of my left foot was a little sore, but it wasn't bad enough that I had to limp or anything, until I just walked up my stairs. Halfway up I got this chronic, sharp pain there. It's not visibly red or swollen but it's slightly tender to the touch, and I only feel pain when I put pressure on it. What might be causing this?
Severe pain in arch of foot. very sudden.? I was standing in my kitchen about an hour ago clearing off my counter and i noticed a sharp, intense pain starting in the arch of my foot. It intensified as i stood there with no weight on it. I sort of played it off thinking nothing of it until i went to go walk back into my living room. As soon as i put weight down on my foot, i immediatly felt severe pain! Now i cant walk on it and the pain has goten worse. I took 2 `back and body` pills about 20 minutes ago. What could have caused this? How can i fix the problem? No injuries in that foot. Thanks. 24yr old female
Is it possible for worn shoes to cause foot pain? I've been jogging in Nike shoes for 7 months and it's getting worn out now. The insoles were complete worn so I replaced em with new ones. But before I did that I suddenly started feeling pain with my arch in my left foot for the first time in 3 years of doing trail running. So could the sudden pain be from using worn out shoes?
Walking in High Heels causes Arch Pain? So I have this pair of 4" high heels and it's no problem walking around in them - in my house that is. Even walking outside around on my driveway doesn't hurt at all. Then; as soon as I start walking on the side walk or down this road to the bus stop (which doesn't have a side walk) my feet start to hurt IMMENSELY. And it's not the "ball of your feet/heel/toe" pain that I've seen in most of these other high heel questions. It's a very sharp and straining pain in my arches. What I'm wondering is do you know why this area of my feet hurt? And if so; is there anything I can do about it?
Constant stinging pain in arch of my foot... what should i do? I have had a stabbing like pain in the arch of my foot that uas been ongoing for about two years now. I cant remember doing anything sporty that may have caused the pain... But when i was younger my heels used to curve in. I have done some reasearch and it says that i may have pulled a ligament... It also says that this accurs in the middle ages, at about 40 years old... However i am 14... I am going to the doctors at some point this week but i dont know what else to do... Any advice? ~Thanks.
What does excessive foot pronation effect? My feet have always over pronated a little, and lately more so. My feet sometimes go numb, my achilles/calf cramps up, then a little pain in the knees and hips. It seems to go away with shoe inserts that raise my arch. This sound familiar to anyone? Can't believe that one area of my foot causes pain elsewhere.
Could this be the cause of my foot pain? When I wear my tennis shoes for over an hour o standing in my feet my big toe and my arch sometimes hurts really bad. Is it possible that if my big toes toenails are too long I can be the cause of the pain in my toes?
What is causing the pain in the arch of my foot? I ran/walked 5 miles 5 days ago. Since then, the arch of my foot has been hurting at all of my X-C practices. I had a meet today, and it hurt so much after I decided to do something about it. Earlier in the week, I asked my coach and he told me to roll my foot over a tennis ball, which hasn't helped much. It only hurts when I put weight on the ball/toes of my foot. What is causing this?
What is the pain on the side of my foot? I've had a pain on the side of my right foot for about a week now. (The inside part of my right foot.) And I'm not totally sure what has caused the pain. It feels like a dull pain from the middle of my big toe to the arch of my foot. But this pain is only on the left side of my right foot and does not spread underneath or above the foot. It hurts slightly to walk on, move my foot too far to the left, or if I bend my big toe. However, it is not swollen. The pain isn't anything sever that's keeping me from doing day to day things, but it's still pretty sore and kind of annoying. I'm a college student and I have to walk to all of my classes, so this pain is making it a little bit difficult. I've tried applying ice and heat, but it hasn't made it go away. I don't do any sports, but I am in the marching. I might have done something to it then. Any ideas what this pain might be?
What can i use as a shoe arch? I just bought uggs and theres no arch in them so it causes pain in my foot. So im going to stick something in between the shoe and the arch of my foot. Any ideas what i could use?
Causes of foot pain?!?!?!? I've been experiencing pain in the bottom of my foot, predominantly in the ball and arch, for a few weeks, and it has recently spread to my ankle. It hurts a lot when I walk, but not when I jog or run, but when I stop it hurts a lot more than walking. The pain varies from being a slight throbbing to excruciating. I think it might be the muscle but I'm not sure. I'm looking for some ideas of what it could be. I am going to go to the doctor soon if it continues, which I believe it will, but have put it of so far because if it is the muscle they cannt do anything but prescribe ibrofofen, which I'm allergic to, and I don't want to waste their time. Anyway, I would be eternally grateful for any ideas as to causes, and I hope that I have explained it well enough to give a brief description of the pain. Thank you in advance for any answers! ^_^
Pain Under My Knee,Low Foot Arch? I'm running long distance in track at shcool and about 5 days ago I've started having pain under my knee or knee cap or whatever you call it. I also have a low foot arch which has caused severe ankle problems before but never anything with my knees. Some of the possible reasons for this may be my shoes were old and falling apart ( I just got new ones) and that I'm not used to running this much at one time. My knee hurts whenever I bend it and when I run I'm limping the whole time. I don't know what to do or how to fix it. Please help me.
What is causing my foot pain? I am having a sharp pain in the middle of the arch of my foot every couple steps. It is not a continuous pain but its been going on all day. I use to get this pain really bad when i went on hikes and would randomly feel a sharp pain in the middle sole of my foot. That was two years ago and since then it hasn't caused me any troubles until today. It kinda feels like the bottom of my foot is overstretching. It is also only my right foot not my left. Here is some of my details: Age:18 Weight:140 Height 5'7" What could be causing this? Thanks
Is it my arch or heel that is causing the pain overall when wearing ballet flats? I love ballet flats and have worn them for years, but it I am finding now that mainly my left foot is killing me by days end. The pain is mostly in my heel, so I cannot tell if it is arch pain or heel pain. I cannot afford to go to a foot specialist or get custom inserts. Has anyone else had this kind of pain when wearing flats and what have you done about it?
What is the cause for my foot pain? Hello. I am a 19 year old girl with no previous foot problems. Today I noticed when I walk it feels like a vein in my foot near the top part of my arch is being stretched. It stings like little pins stabbing the area. There is not swelling or discoloration. Any ideas to what the problem is?
Periodic severe foot pain in arches ? I worked at McDonalds for about 6 months and quit about 8 weeks ago. It was my second job where I was on my feet but this is where the foot pain began. after standing for more than an hour my feet would start hurting pretty sharply in the arches. after sitting down and then getting back up, they would be much worse. I figured this pain would go away when. I went back to just one job, and it has reduced but not disappeared. occasionally my feet still hurt even after a mild, no-gym day. often after taking a break and then standing up again. It's usually on the horizontal middle of my arch, towards the inside of both feet. rubbing on. The bottom of my feet seems to help, there are pressure points that are soft and hurt. the. pain builds up severely on a treadmill. I am semi overweight at about 5 10 and 190 which I'm working on but this has never been an issue. I wear Nike shocks which I find very comfortable but to not use custom inserts. does anyone have any suggestions or possible causes of this pain?
